You need a new laser. Even if a technician turns up the laser power level and it works it won't last more than a few months or so. Time for a new laser or most likely a new unit because that is almost always more cost effective. Good Luck!!

My cd is not being read on my panasonic cd stereo sa-ch64m

A typical symptom is you insert a disc in the player and after a while; the CD tray opens again with the message referring to no disc being in the system. This can be infuriating because you can see that there is a disc, however, the CD / DVD player cannot.
Every time the tray closes, the laser beam fires two long bursts of laser light, and the focusing platform moves up and down attempting to focus the beam. This is the time when it is looking for a disc. If the laser has failed, then it will not be able to detect a CD and therefore the error message appears.
I normally do two things when this happens. I normally clean the lens just in case there is dust on it obstructing the laser path. If cleaning the lens does not solve the problem then I make sure the laser is working. Second Problem can we with your CD. After some time the CD coating gets deteriorate due to atmosphere, this damages the coating of CD/DVD where data is stored..
I hope try Different CD in your player or clean the lens if the problem doesnt solve, use a CD cleaner to clean it...

My machine says no disc but the disc is loaded

Was it a disc that worked before on your player? If not, try another disc and check the result. If it used to work... Clean the disk using a soft cloth and also clean the lens of your DVD player using a "CD lens cleaner". If nothing works, your lens must be already malfunctioning.

It continually says no disc and wont play

What to do:
buy a cd lens cleaner then play the cd lens cleaner until you hear a sound with the instruction then just follow the instruction until the cleaning process end after that play your dvd movies again
if still not working go to the nearest service center or if you know how to open the cover of your player to manually clean the lens by a cotton buds inside, but be careful the lens is sensitive. tips on cleaning do not put any liquid to the cotton buds just do the dry cleaning
thanks for using Fixya

Unit is AS765C, problems using CD player. Difficult to get it to play a CD, Says "No Disc" but will sometimes play a disc but no more and can't work out how to get it to work...

Could be dust on the laser lens. Can get a cleaning CD which has a small brush to clean it, or if you can see the lens (don't look directly at it when switched on as the invisible infra-red laser is bad for your eyes) then clean it gently with a cotton bud (q-tip).
If cleaning does not fix it and the CDs are in good condition then the laser unit is bad and needs replacing which is possible but might cost the same as buying a new CD player.

I think my lens is weak, the cd has to be ejected and inserted a couple of times before it works

Like any system, Xbox consoles require occasional cleaning to remain in peak condition. If you're experiencing skipping, poor sound quality, increased loading time, or any number of technical annoyances, simply cleaning your Xbox lens may correct the problem. The lens is responsible for reading all the data on your Xbox game discs; it is the most important part of the entire system. Cleaning the lens takes only a few minutes with the right cleaning product and know-how.
Difficulty: Easy
Things You'll Need:

* CD lens cleaning disc

1.Purchase a CD lens cleaning disc. It is important that you buy a lens cleaner for a CD player, not a DVD player. Classic Xbox consoles are not DVD compatible, but they can play CDs. Some lens cleaning discs are marketed specifically as Xbox 360 cleaners, but these may not work in an original Xbox if the disc is DVD-formatted.

2.Turn on your television and Xbox just like you normally would to play a video game.

3.Open your Xbox's disc drive, placing the lens cleaning disc in the drive face-up. A lens cleaning disc works by sweeping small brushes over the laser lens surface. These brushes are located on the bottom of the disc; be careful not to touch the brushes---the microfiber brushes are delicate and can become damaged easily.

4.Close the Xbox and let the machine power up; make sure your television's volume is turned on. Your Xbox should automatically take you to the system's standard CD player menu. If this does not happen, select the menu manually using your Xbox controller.

5.Begin playing the first track of the cleaning disc. Listen carefully, because audio directions will play indicating the steps necessary for properly using your cleaning disc. Each brand of lens cleaning disc will have different steps, but they are typically very simple, involving tasks like skipping ahead to different tracks or briefly putting the CD in fast forward mode. If you cannot hear the audio directions, consult the written instructions packaged with the disc.

6.Remove the cleaning CD after you've followed the audio directions---a typical cleaning cycle only takes a few minutes, and the audio directions will tell you when cleaning is complete.

7.Carefully place the lens cleaning disc back in its case, avoiding damaging the brushes on the bottom. Lens cleaners can be used multiple times, so plan on using the cleaning disc regularly to help avoid future problems with your Xbox console

My sony portable dvd player won't work. It just keeps saying that its loading. Then it say's check disk. what should I do.

Does this happen with all discs?
Are the discs clean and not scratched?

Try a DVD lens cleaning disc (not a CD lens cleaner).

You may have to try the cleaning disc more than once.

Player shows '' No Disc'' even when inserted with a disk

When player says no disk, even if the disk inside, and you hear a whirring and clicking noise when you insert a disk, that means that the CD lens is dirty or defective, and the CD drive cannot read the initial CD track, and returns no disk.

Try first using a CD cleaner disk, if that does not work, then you will need to take the apart the unit to clean lens with isopropyil alcohol and cotton sticks.

When it is region lock it will say it on the display, if the player is not reading any disk, it is more likely a lens problem, see below:

Try first using a lens cleaner disk, like the ones here.

If that does not work, the unit must be disassembled, and lense cleaned with q tips and isopropyl alcohol or cleaning solution. See below:

Used lens laser lens cleaner & now player won't play.

You can open the dvd and try to clean it the dvd so you can see the lazer.take a normal earbud and wet it with normal methylated spirits and clean the lazer gently with that.the lazer cleaners hardly ever work 100%.Just remember not to push to hard on the lazer or you will brake it.gently clean and wait for lazer to dry and try again.
