Question about Dell 1450 (D1450U) Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Dell 1450 wireless adapter

It just stopped working, I cant understand. there is no off or on switch, you plug it in after installing the drivers, the green light comes on and it installs itself. Now I plug it in and it says found new device called cohiba something and I'm completely confused because its not a cohiba flash drive which is what I was using on the same computer at the same time just before it stopped working. I'm thinking the drivers are corrupted because of the flash drive??

Help me!!

:-(

Yes, the driver can be corrupted and you need to reload the driver or better download the latest one and use that instead to make sure your adapter is using the right software for it...

Hope that helps... Don't forget to rate the solution FIXYA thank you

My computer crashed i had xp media edition then i upgraded and installed windows 7. now my dell 1450 wireless adaptor will not work, i cannot install the drivers, i get a message that it is not compatable...

Try first this driver from Dell site, its another XP driver but I'm pretty sure windows 7 should be able to use it. I've been running '7 for ages now and used many many xp drivers just fine.

I have a Dell wireless 1450 Wirless usb adapter but do not have the disc. What should I do to have it working?

I have the dell 1450 and couldn't connect to my BT Home hub 2.0. either. I appreciate it's not really an answer but I swapped to a different wi-fi adapter and was straight in, no bother. It's some kind of issue with the security key - without security the 1450 was fine, as it was with my old Draytek plus security. I guess I could have spent hours on trying to understand why the 1450 and hub won't get along but a few quid on a different card seemed a better bet! One thing - there is certainly an issue and BT support don't know about it.

My main computer is vista, the one with wireless router , but I want to use my xp computer with the dell 1450 wireless usb adapter. it won't work

Dell do not provide support for vista on the 1450 USB adapter - see here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=bsdv&dl=false&docid=20075A1DBD60D650E0401E0A55175C46&doclang=en
I have not tried this - but found on another forum http://www.vistaforums.com/Forum/Topic5380-21-1.aspx olution:
  1. 1) Install the Dell 1450 USB drivers on a PC with XP32 (assuming your target machine is 32-bit)
  2. 2) Copy the "2K" drivers from the install directory ( c:\program files\dell wireless ) to a flash drive.
  3. 3) Copy the "2K" drivers from the flash drive to the Vista machine. After you plug in your 1450 choose to manually select the driver then browse to that folder. You should be up an running in a few seconds.
The extra connection manager software that came with the adapter won't run on Vista but you'll still get a good wireless connection.
