I have a panasonic dvc and I have been told by Panasonic that my pc will only recognise my camera if I install the Motion DV studio 4.7 software. I am using windows xp and firewire connection. Could anyone verify this info please.
You don't need to install anything to get Windows XP to recognize the cam. In fact, I don't have that software installed on my PC and it recognizes my DV953 quite well. You can use Windows Movie Maker to capture and edit the video from your cam.

We have bought this camera for our kids to share, but we cannot get Movie Maker to import the videos from the camera. It seems to be a format that Movie Maker will not accept. I cant believe that this can be true - has anyone had experience of this?
