Is that a problem? The way I read my User Manual the sending eye glows orange (amber?) and the receiving eye glows green.

I have a blinking amber light in my garage door motor? and one of the sensors on the track is yellow and one is green?

the lights on the sensor are the correct colors. the green light is the receiving sensor, and the amber light is the transmitting sensor. If the light on the motor head is blinking, most likely it's blinking a certain number of times, pausing, then repeating the sequence to tell what the problem is. In your owner's manual, there should be a list of what the blinks mean. Watch your opener's light for a few minutes, take note of the flashes, then compare them to your owner's manual. If you don't have one, check your manufacturer's website. If you can't find one there, contact me.

My garage door will open just fine, but when I try to close it the light blinks 3-5 times and then I have to press to button and hold it until the door closes completely. what can be the issue?

Check the obstruction sensors and for anything blocking the doorway. If both sensors do not have the appropriate lights on, adjust them to get the beam across the doorway to the opposite sensor. (My units have amber and green lights on different sides. Both lights must be on.)

I hope this helps.

(we often get the sensors out of alignment when someone walks too close to the rail of the door. Weeds and bright sunshine can also interrupt the light beam.)

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener, Model 139.18076 or thereabouts. One day the door went up and it didn't come back down without me detaching and closing it manually. The motor hums/clicks...

Check to see if the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor housing. If it is, loosen the chain enough to take the stress off and then run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

I thought my sensors were not working, so I bought 2 new ones. I hooked them up, and the amber one glows, but the green one does not. I put the two sensors face to face to see if I could get the green one...

The sensors must be connected correctly. The solid white wires from each sensor go to terminal #2 on the motor unit and the white wires with the black stripe go to terminal #3.

Upon pressing open/close button kitchen door the garage starts to close but then reopens after 3-4". one must then hold button until door is fully closed. what is remedy?

The problem is that your system does NOT "see" the safety "eyes" sensors. Make sure that your sensors are properly connected to the opener (both sensors should have lights on them, one amber and another green). If they do not, check the wiring and the connections at the opener itself.

Liftmaster formula 1 garage door opener keeps "bouncing" open

If the door reverses when it hits the floor it is traveling too far. Locate the 'down limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will most likely be necessary. You can always recognize a sensor problem because the main light will flash 10 times. If the main light isn't flashing it isn't a sensor problem.

How to align the sensor on garage doors

Ok quick question. How old is your opener? There are two little blocks on each side of the door. are they both green? or is one amber and the other green? When I go out to a customers house with this problem the first thing I do is close the door so is a little darker so you can see the lights. Line them up then I good each one a good little tap with my finger and see if ether light will flicker. If so then there too loose or not lined up as well. One side will always be lite (unless there is no power or a cut wire)
