Yahoo IM or Yahoo IM for Vista won't load

I cannot load either version since I got my new hard drive and software. I am using Iolo System Mechanic Pro ver. 8.0. At first I thought it was a firewall problem, but other programs have not encountered any problems including my P2P program. Either version of Yahoo IM wont even load. Here is my system and configuration:

Dell Dimension 64x2
3 1/2 gigs ram
250 meg hd
windows vista 32 bit version
dlink dir 655 router

I've re-downloaded both programs several times, and attempted numerous installations. All I get is the splash screen, and then a popup window telling me I will be notified when a solution is available.

Yahoo IM ver 9.0 and Yahoo IM Vista Beta (didn't see a version number)

  • poorbiker Oct 05, 2008

The only version available is 9.0, unless you can provide a link.

  • poorbiker Oct 05, 2008

Tried to find the earlier version, but was unsuccessful. Just for the heck of it, I installed MSN Live Messenger, and it works without a hitch. Unfortunately, all my contacts are in Yahoo.

First off I watched the videos. I got as far as vista features, but the audio was so bad I couldn't see or understand what was said. Went back to vista features, and couldn't find the following:

    GroupPolicy Preferences CSE
    Windows DFS Replication service

It's not downloading the program that is the problem, but running it. I get the opening splash screen before it crashes.
