Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hello. I have a Zenith DLP Projection TV that I bought new from the store (possibly the display in the store) that has been working fine for 2 years. Just only a few weeks ago, the color seemed a little dim and dark and a steady yellow indicatoor light came on accompanied by a prompt at the bottom of the screen that read: If you change the lamp you wil have a better image. The TV, though still very dim, was working fine until I turned it off last night. Upon trying to turn it back on this morning, the power light flashed as it normally does, it sound like the motor was starting (I guess, forgive my ignorance) and then it shut off. I did notice that the lamp indicator button is no longer lit. Would this cause this type of problem going ignored as it did? Would not replacing the lamp and allowing it to die completely prohibit us from getting a picture at all? Thanks in advance for all of your help and support. I. MissTV

I have no light blinking to allert for future problems, How ever I am experiencing issues with the dim look and the clors are not as vibrant,

I am wondering if these DLP are anything like the older rear projections?

and occasionally need to have the back side of the screen cleaned, and do these DLP's have a mirror as well?

Sounds like you need to replace your lamp and the tv will work fine until the new lamp goes out. I have had three lamps since Nov 2006 in mine and I have a notice coming up on my Panasonic saying I need to change the lamp right now. Which is strange, because before there was no warning, it worked fine and then when we went to turn it on again, it just did not work until the lamp was replaced.

Zenith z56dc1d dlp tv picture works for about 1 minute then starts shaking and tv shuts off

You may want to get it in a rather warm room and or remove rear cover and use a hairdryer to warm everything up inside the Cabinet--with rear cover off look to see if the fans are dirty etc and if they all come on, if a DLP especially look at the lamp itself and the fan that cools it.

The projection bulb came on,but didn't stay on mean the bulb have problems, dosen't mean projection bulb it still good.First must replace a new projection bulb to make sure for the elimation for the projection bulb is the problems. These DLP tvs require new projection bulb every 1 1/2 or 2 years by watching the tv like 4 or 5 hours daily. So there no lost there for trying a new projection bulb alway can save it for later use.The secound could be the board that call the Ballast board have problems too.The Ballast board only job it is to ignite to the projection bulb and make it work.Replace the Ballast board too,if the tv new projection bulb react the same way.

Tv wont turn on... light blinks yellow as if its going to power on.. and just shuts off... for my zenith dlp 52 inch tv

I had this same problem. The Zenith rep told me to unplug the TV, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, plug it back in and then turn it on. It worked and I haven't had a problem with it since. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I have a 1994 zenith big screen the picture is showing really dar

It could be that the picture tubes have gone down on emission, there is a prcedure that can be tried to bring up the overall brightness but it is just possible that you will loose some picture quality. If it's a 1994 projo tv i am thinking of the three crt system, a gray scale alignment would probably correct the dark condition in your picture, again depending on how far gone is the emission in your picture tubes, if your projo tv is the dlp system, the bad news is that you could be needing some light engine repair. The color adjustment is possible with the availability of a service manual or in the case of the dlp system, light engine repairs or replacement are available from some on line stores.
