First try to Reboot PC in safe mode by Tapping the F8 Key. Once you get in at desktop.
Open the MSCONFIG, Start --> Run --> msconfig--> then go to Startup
Uncheck all the entries then try, to boot normally.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Best of Luck

Press F2 and enter in BIOS, check the Boot Priority, Disable Boot from CD & Floppy option.
Also check the ACPI Power management, in BIOS.

If you can try to open CPU cabinet after power off, unplug the RAM (memory Card) from the and then again try to run it.

Check out the Fan is running properly, may be the case of faulty SMPS (power supply).

    Regards

My MT1800 will not fully start up. I have tried disconnecting the printer and the HDMI connection to the tv, so that now I have no external gadgets connected at all. But still no luck. Can you assist...

With all but video, keyboard and mouse disconnected, try booting into Safe Mode. If that does NOT work try foing into the BIOS and resetting to Factory Default. Doe is display any erre codes? Beeps? I hope this helps. Good luck anf have a fantastic day.

Philips mt1800 displays problems with startup

You can't fix that anymore, your windows copy is now "corrupted or impotent".
If it won;t work on safe mode, probably your system files are at a bad condition.
Recovery disc might get you to startup again, but if ever there is a virus it will just happen again.
I advise you to reformat if you don't have anymore files to save.
If ever there is, well... maybe get a linux live CD so you can browse through your hard disk again.
    Hope I helped, cheers.

My hp pavillion dv8305us will not access my cd/dvd rom. the device manager say's it's working properly, yet it is not detected, and is not on ''my computer'' page. i contacted hp, and also tried the...

Does it show up in your BIOS settings? If so, then go back into BIOS, where the setting for CD/DVD Boot Priority selection is, select the one you have issues with and hit the "Page Up" on your Keyboard so that CD/DVD is the 1st to boot (of CD/DVD's, that is...) then go to Item Boot Priority and make your HDD the 1st Boot item, the CD/DVD you have issues with be your 2nd boot device, and add two more Bootable items or have the last settings say Bootable. Now, restart your machine, let it go through its Boot sequence, now go into Device Manager, find your CD/DVD, open Region,, choose the Region you are in and hit APPLY, the go to Populate- NEXT TO Region, click POPULATE, then close out of everything and try it out. If it still doesn't work, uninstall the drivers, remove the CD/DVD, all cables and write down the Make, Model & Serial# on top of the CD/DVD Drive (SAVE for later!), reinstall. Do ALL I mentioned above, 1st, then try it again. If it still doesn't work, you will have to go to the manuf. HOME website, find your make, model & serial #, they will either have a sftwr. dwnld. or both a Flash sftwr. dwnld. (Desktop and automatic- don't worry, it does all of the work) and the latest sftwr. driver- which willmost likely be found by the Flash program they have you dwnld. So, take your time, be patient and keep your chin up. By the way, is it the Philips Brand? If so, then you WILL have to do ALL of this. I build PC and repair-maintain as a hobby and the Philips, ASUS and SONY are always doing something like this to most of their Image Drives because of specific motherboards... Good Luck and, again, be patient.

Im the main person on computer the account in my name but i have forgotton password for the main page and can not get on to anything not even to resset a new password what do i do

    Hi,

I am not sure the OS installed on your notebook. Assuming it is XP OS, I am providing the steps.

If you have forget the login password of your account in XP then nothing to worry. There will be default account in XP called "Administartor"

By default there will be no password for this account. We can access this account from same mode.

To boot in safemode, restart the notebook and keep pressing the F8 key at BIOS logo screen.

Then it will give you the Advanced boot options. From those options, select "Safe Mode"

At Welcome screen you can see the Admistrator icon. Click on it to login. After booting into Safemode, open Control Panel, User Accounts and reset the password of your previous account.

    Hope this works for you.
