I turned off my laptop with the on/off button instead of the shut down option, and now I can't get into my account. I have tried pressing F2 on start up and selecting the different safe mode options, but I still can't get into my account. Could you please help?

Re: unlocking laptop from safemode.
If u forgot ur password or if it got messed up in the file system you can try a repair installation or a system file reinstall using your operating disk (you will not lose any of your programs or files

Try booting in safemode by tapping the F8 key till u see an options screen, choose safemode and you will get to the logon screen, choose Administrator. You should be able to get into user accounts and take off the password option in your main account and then make a new one...make sure to write it down:)
Assuming you know how, press the on button and hold it for more than five seconds -- your windows will shut down and computer will turn off. Then restart it in safemode, use SytemRestore to go back to a good restore point. That should get your Start button back to where it was when it worked.
Tturn on your computer, then, before the windows boot screen appears, press the F8 key, this should bring up the start options , if it does not, turn off , turn back on and try again. On the start options use the up/down arrows on keyboard to select "last known good configuration", press the enter key. Windows should start as normal if it does not do the process again but instead select "safemode" .
if it is an xp machine this should be easy. hold the power button down till it shuts off (you must shut it off this way) then start it again it should at some stage of booting show an error recovery screen it will give you the options, start in safe mode, safemode with networking and so on, select start in safe mode and it will log you in once it loads the desktop will be a black screen with safe mode written in each corner open the control panel from the start menu and go into user accounts and delete the password
turn on your laptop in safemode......... (keep pressing the "f 8" key just the sec before you see the windows laoding screen........ here you wiill get an option of safemod..... just select this option..it may take some time to get the windows load...
When windows is loaded it will show you an "administrator" account on your login screen...
Login in to the administrator account...
now go to controlpanel >>>>>> user accounts >>>
Here select your account and look for the option change password...
change the password and then restart your computer normaly..
and provide your new pw..... enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
If you have any thing elsee.. feel free to coment...
