Make sure that your wireless or wifi light is on,you may try to press Fn and F2 at the same time to enable or swith on wireless..if wifi is already on,try going to start >> control panel >> network connections,go to wireless network connection and double click it, it will give you a list of wireless network,or right click and then "view available wireless network", if you get an error that windows cannot configure wireless connection,go to start >> all programs >> loo for either dell wlan utility or intel pro wireless, by opening that app,it will also search for wireless network in range,just double click on the network name where you want to connect and you sould be connected provided that "wireless network" doesnt have encryption like wpa or wep key..if your connecting to your home network,you should have wireless router at home and wireless is enabled on the router.

Press and hold the "Ctrl" and "F11" keys simultaneously when the Dell splash screen appears. The "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" window will appear. Click "Restore." Just make sure you have saved all your data before doing that.
Several resoning behind this one. One check your firewall setting, and make sure your wireless card have permission. Two, make sure that your mac filtering is turn off. Your wirless network has it own mac address and it is not in the router as to be aloud, it will block it. Three if your wireless network has a password, make sure you enter in right, it is case sensative. Four make certain that you have your wireless device is connected to the modem, or modem wireless combine. Finally, if you were running wired, try to clean the temperary ineternet filess off.
For some reason known only to Dell, the default setting for the Inspiron 6000 built-in wireless network adapter is 'off' or 'disabled.'
If you used Dell's restore disk to reinstall XP, the radio button is turned off. Go to control panel/system/device manager, find the wireless LAN device, right-click on it and choose 'Properties.' Under 'Wireless radio' check 'on' or 'enabled.'
Go back to Windows network setup wizard and go back through the steps using the 'restore network connection' button. You should be good to go.
There's an EXCELLENT network manager from Cisco named 'Network Magic' that takes all the guesswork out of setting up your internet connection. I highly recommend it. They offer a free trial and I think may even have a 'Lite' version that helps with simple connections without the bells and whistles of the full blown program. I'm not sure about that, but I can't tell you how much time it's saved me troubleshooting and setting up networks for my clients.
If you're using wireless internet and should be connected, you'll have to make sure that you're in range of the wireless network and have the proper network key if it's required. If you're not using the wireless internet and just want the notification to go away, you can double click on the icon itself, and then select 'properties' in the next window that opens. Then just remove the checkmark next to 'notifiy me with this connection has limited or no connectivity'

yes offcourse ur dell inspiron 5100 laptop support wireless connection,and it will detect the wireless connection in ur computer,uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver and then try and connect to wireless connection,and what u can do is that reset the router and then try and connect to wireless network it will definately connect..and it will also detect the wireless signal also........good luck
try launching An Internet Explorer, Or web-browser Page.
Also You could look in the device manager, for any problem-devices. Then check that you are getting A receive as well as Transmit signal. ( bytes sent/received ) Check settings In Internet Connectivity.
So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.
