The ps3 only works on the HDMI how can i get it to work on AV?

Rather simple... took me a couple tries though:
Switch the ps3 off on the back... wait about 15-30 seconds, switch it back on.
Hold on the power button touch area until you hear a second beep... that should reset it. If it doesn't work the first time, try again... it may take up to 10 seconds of holding down on the on/off switch before it beeps again.

Yellow light, switches off after 3 seconds, game

Hi there, this is usually a sign of the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD). When the PS3 was originally made Sony used lead free solder in their consoles. Lead free solder is not as flexible as normal leaded solder and over time due to expansion and contraction because of heat given off by the console's components lots of PS3's failed. You have got a couple of options, you can either have the console professionally repaired which is going to cost around £50. As the console is out of warranty Sony will only replace it for a cost of around £130. As a last resort if you are good with electrical items you might want to have a go at repairing it yourself. If you google YLOD you will find plenty of guides that will instruct you on how you can repair it yourself. Even if you manage to get the console working for just a couple of minutes, at least you could get your game out. Alternatively try holding the eject button while turning it on from the rear. This may force an eject and the fan will spin very fast.

Please bear in mind that once a console has the YLOD there is NO guarantee as to how long a repair will last, it could be a couple of hours to a couple of years.

I hope this information helps you and I hope you get your PS3 up and running soon.

My playstation 3 When i press on the power on the front, i hear the drive trying to boot but after a couple of seconds it swithces off and back to standby Please help what can i do

Mine did this once. I turned the switch off the back and unplugged it for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn the switch on the back, then try again. This worked for mine and it's been fine since. If it doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas.

Ps3 after switch on 2,3 seconds later it switchs off

i have exactly the same problem. have been in touch with playstation themselves they say it is either motherboard or one of the other major parts in the playstation. my ps3 is 2 years old now (out of waranty) playstastion said that if i can provide proof of purchase they will exchange it free of charge even though it is a year over its warranty date. if you cant find your proof they will replace it for £150.
