USB format problem and cannot access

Hey, I reinstalled my computer (now currently Windows XP sp3), and now my USB (Sandisk 1 Gig) cannot be accessed. It says that I need to format the drive first. What's the problem? (Before this reinstallation, I also did have the same Windows, and there was no problem with the usb) Thanks in advance.

...It started when i was playing a song with my nokia 6680. the song was played at the background so i started to open messaging but when i pressed the keypad, it does not respond but the song was still playing. I turned it off and when i turned it on, all my installed applications was gone so i checked my memory card. It said that it is corrupted so i tried to format it. The phone showed "memory card cannot be formatted." I tried to format it through my pc, the pc can't open it cause it also said that it was corrupted, but the same thing happens. the pc showed "windows cannot format the drive." I tried formatting it through another computer but it renderred same results..how can i revive my memory card?? pls help me....

Where can I get appropriate USB cable, i.e, parallel to USB not the original parallel to parallel?

So you have an old Zip drive with a parallel port? You can't connect that using USB. Nor can you connect that to a computer running any version of Windows newer than XP.

Two options:
1) Buy a USB version of the Zip drive and use it to read your disks. Used, USB Zip drives seem to run around $35 or so.
2) Get a computer using an old version of Windows. If it doesn't have a parallel port, you should be able to buy a PCI card with a parallel port on it.

Once you're able to access the files, copy them onto a USB thumb drive. For $10, you can get a 32 GB USB drive, which should hold everything from at least 320 Zip disks.

CRUZER BLADE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN DELETED AND MY COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZED T HOW TO RESTORE MY CURRENT FILES AND MY USB WILL RUN AGAIN?

Good day,
installing the software again will allow the computer to recognize the device and grant you access to your files if you did not do any manipulation on the memory card.
The software can be downloaded online. Let me know if you need the link.

I understand that your SD 4gb Thumbdrive isn't working with your Toshiba laptop after you upgraded to Windows 7. You have two possible alternatives: 1. reformat your SD 4gb Thumbdrive using Windows 7 to format. 2. Go back to Windows XP, or whatever operating system you were using before the upgrade.

It says that the disc is not formatted and asks if I want to format it.

You can't use the card until its been formatted.

Formatting cleans all current data off the card.

If its a camera card, format it in the camera using the camera menu. Otherwise it still may not work.

Do you have the driver utility cd for your card? try installing the driver from that even if it is not a windows 7 driver. You can always get an external card reader with usb interface if all fails.
