Question about Video Cameras

Open Question

Sony CCD FX620

When I insert a tape, the door closes, transport mech. goes down, then comes back up and ejects the tape. Sometimes when I inset the tape, I hear the motor rev up, and the tape transport mech. does not move.
Any suggestions?...And if I get the tape to finally play, the picture is distorted and then the unit sometimes beeps with an eror code indicating moisture. I do know that there is no moisture...Any Suggestions?

SOURCE: no power Sony Handycam Model CCD-FX620

there are fuses ,but they are small solder in types, all fx series camcorder have a common problem with the rear power board working it's way loose and unplugging itself from the main board. these units have alot of solder connection issue due to sony's use of poor solder back in the earily 90's

SOURCE: self-eject

Hi there, I think I can offer some info, though it's not good news.
This cassette ejection is controled by a small motor in the bottom of the cassette carriage (see picture). Unfortunatly whether the problem be this cheap little motor or a switch that controls it, taking it to a repair shop would cost much more than this little camcorder is worth.8477600.jpg Sorry for the bad news, I have the same camera as you can see it's taken apart now. I posted another solution to get the tape out if you come to that problem.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: I found tapes that were with my Sony HandyCam

If no error codes are displayed it is most likely dirty heads and guides, and moisture.

SOURCE: Sony Handycam CCD-TR64 cassette door won't close

Common problem with this mechanism. In order to fix the problem you will have to replace part called CHASSIS LS. Expensive repair, probably not worth the effort.

Testimonial: "Thanks. We ended up getting a new camcorder. That Handycam was as old as I am (18 years), so it was time for an upgrade anyway."

Take off the battery on the camcorder. Insert the battery and at the SAME time, push the power and the eject to see if this resets the camcorder so it will eject. If this does not work, I'm afraid the unit will need to be taken apart and removed manual. Good Luck

Tape won't eject from CCD-TRV608

There is a little plastic piece on the tape and it is getting stuck, you have to maually move this piece, witha paper clip or something else. it might break the piece off, but that is the only way I know to get it out.

Tape will not eject

If you remove the power while the basket is halfway up, you should be able to remove the door. Then look to see if the reels are turning when you try to elect the tape. The error code you are getting indicates the reels are not turning for some reason. You can ssist the reels turning as the tape is ejected if you have a small plastic pick or a toothpick into the reels to assist the reels turning and tehn you may be able to remove the tape.
