HI thanks for your question. the element is probably broken. and part of it is touching the frame, of the element housing. remove element and look for a break. but unplug dryer first. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer. thanks.

MAytag 2300 aww does not heat

If this is a gas dryer it may be the ignitor has failed. There should be a panel you can remove to inspect the burner compartment. Turn on the dryer and look for an orange glow if you don't see any glow the ignitor is probably faulty and should be replaced. If it is an electric dryer it may be a bad heating element. Hope this helps.

Maytag dryer mde2400ayw cuts power off in middle of cycle

If it is heating up your element is fine. With it shutting off is sounds like one of you sensors is out. The sensors I am talking about are not sold individually, they come in a pack for about 35 bucks. Replace all of them since you have them and should be fine. My guess here is that it is getting too hot and the sensor is shutting it down due to a faulty sensor. Make sure to clean out the machine well while in there.

Maytag mde2400azw takes forever to dry.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Heating element is getting red hot - like a heater.

No the first thing I would check is the vent going outside may be cloged the air going across the heating element should keep it from glowing real bright

Dryer not drying

Locate the heater element ,disconnect one or both ends. ohm it out with an ohm meter. Zero reading means tha it is open and needs to be replaced. Maxium or full; scale reading on the right side means that it is shorted and needs to be replaced. Middle reading on the meter and I would look elsewhere, such as;  Voltage coming to the element if you are used to dealing with 220 volts, live.

Maytag compact dryer low heat doesnot dry. works for hrs clothes still damp.

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

MAYTAG PYE2300AYW ELECTRIC DRYER - HEATER SHUTS OFF PREMATURELY

First off, how are you looking to check this situation. Either way, it would be normal for this to happen. When you are looking at the elements heating, you more than likely have the door open to see them. The heater will do what they call "short cycling" because the airflow has outside source air getting into the heat stream. The door and lid almost always has to be shut for this system to work correctly. You can sometimes crack the top just enough to see the element heat. Usually, if the element is coming on at all, then the system should be fine. If you have a dryer thats not drying your clothes completely, its more than likely you have a ventilation issue (i.e vent tube restriction, grass growing in the end of the vent, etc). Also remember these Maytags have two thermostats on them most of the time. One directly over the top of the element, and one in the fan housing at the front of the unit. Try those, if there isnt a change, write me back and will look from there. Good Luck!!!!
