Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic SA-PT750 and a new LCD HDTV (Sharp Aquos, 46"). The DVD quality is terrible. I changed the setting to 1080p on the DVD player but still not good. I am using an HDMI cable. Also, when playing a DVD the picture starts as 4:3 Letterbox which is long and thing but after a minute or so it changes to full screen which is terrible.

We have a new 46" Sharp Aquos with a "snowy"

sounds like you have a cable connection problem make sure your tv is set to dtv signal in the menu screen. when you scan the channels should be displayed as 12.1 or 8.2 not just a single number if the digital channels are programmed correctly then change the cable coming into the tv from antenna making sure that it isnot crossing any power wires good luck and hope that i helped

Want to change my sharp hd tv from 480i to 1080p

You Can Not Change. The TV Recognize the signal on the INPUT.
If the signal is 480i than the tv shows 480i
If the signal is 1080p than the tv shows 1080p (if supported)
If you try with your areal antenna (for now digital broadcast is maximum 1080i (in USA) The TV itself doesnt "upconvert" lower resolution signals.

Sound on my Aquos 46" 1080p LCD is intermittent as it comes on for 2 seconds and goes off for 2 seconds. I have checked all the connections and they are good. Any ideas??

1.The heat destroys the rubber between the chip and cooler.
The two chips faced down are touching the ground. Replace rubermaid heat transfer compound and youll be fine.
2. Resoldering the sound chip !!(need good experience and quality soldering equipment)

Setting up sharp 46

Try to isolate the problem.

Try plugging in another source such as a DVD, is there audio? If yes, problem may be with the optimum box. If no, most likely a problem with the TV.

Also, if you are using HDMI with the HDTV box, make sure the box is set to output audio through HDMI.

Sharp aquos

The screen resolution is determined by the source and not the television.  The source (e.g. a PlayStation 3) will query the television to determine which modes it is capable of and then (normally) use the highest available.
I've not had any problems with DVD players, computers, games consoles not managing to send 1080p so it might be worth checking the settings of the source device to see if there's anything you can change there.
Failing that I'd try and find a friend and borrow something from them that they know is working at 1080p without any problems - if the television still won't go to 1080p then its probably a fault in the HDMI cable or something odd with the television.

Make sure you are using an HDMI video cable for optimal picture quality. Also, you must be using an HD reciever.
