Re: number 2 is in upper right corner; cannot remove
I have a Westinghouse LTV-37w2-HD. My husband tried everything to get the problem resolved and he work with the cable company. I unplugged all the cords from the cable box and once it rebooted, the #2 was gone.

This usually happens when you are connecting a cable box or satellite tv box to the television with a coaxial cable. In order to get this to stop you have to connect the cable box or satellite tv box to the television with an RCA/composite cable. Then you will have to change inputs to the appropriate one with the input button on the television (press it repeatedly) or with the input button on the Sharp remote (press is and then scroll down with the down arrow and press enter).
If you are not using a cable box or satellite tv receiver you can try connecting a signal booster to your coaxial cable but that is not guaranteed to work.
Had this problem also when I rebooted my Time Warner Cable box. Unplug everything from the wall including power strip and wait 60 seconds then plug back in and turn everything back on. Worked for me and havent had a problem since. Time Warner does not know what causes this yet.
