.MOD files in Adobe Premiere Pro C3

Hello,
I can't use the files the camcorder produces in Adobe Premiere? I tried renaming to mpg but that doesn't help, is there a solution?

Thanks. trying to import JVC Everio files into Adobe Premier.
Can I use firewire option instead of USB which doesn't seem to work?
Any suggestions

JCV MOD conversions to MPEG

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv and others?

If you got a JVC camcorder, or Panasonic camcorder or Canon MOD camcorder, you would have probably encountered such issue--- what to do with the MOD/TOD files----the God forsaken video format? And you want to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that you can put them on Youtube, Myspace, Google video and Hulu later on to share the camcorder video with your friends or more people? And there is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD/TOD format. Even windows video maker, I have to say it's too complicated to use

Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.

any alternativs? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, rmvd, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter, you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.

MOD converter is a package tool, whcih actually includes mod to mpg mod to mp4 mod to avi mod to wmv mod to 3gp mod to mov

Using .MOD Files In Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 solutions are flawed.

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

use their free converter, i've been using it ever since i needed to convert files for my picky nokia 770. personally i convert the .mod files into .avi, and .mp3 (since premiere doesn't recognize the audio as an .avi) its pretty straightforward on how to set it, it even comes with its own codecs

MOD file

The MOD file is just MPG format,
a simple MS-DOS command line instruction to rename your MOD files to MPG files (first copy your camcorder-harddisk files to PC-harddisk). I use to do the same!
Just execute the following command in the proper directory (or place this line in RENAME_MOD2MPG.BAT, and execute BAT file by doubleclick); the command assumes the JVC 3hexa-digit method of numbering:

ren MOV???.MOD MOV???.MPG

.MOD files in Adobe Premiere Pro C3

Adobe Premiere may not be able to recongize JPEG2 (the format the camcorder records in). In this case, you should use a software tool that can change the format of the video (i.e. from JPEG2 to a supported one). Before you do this, you should check Adobe for patches to support this format. Contact them about this problem and they should give you a better, more indepth solution then consulting JVC.
