A USER GUIDE FOR LPHD160-U

Hi Lorrie -
I think you'll find the document at the link below to be of use. First off, it starts out like no more than a list of where to get help from - but several pages into the document it does go into actual USAGE instructions, covering use, formatting, connection, and so forth. Within the document there are also links to other Iomega online resources about troubleshooting drives and so forth. See if this helps:

Hi my iomega is asking me to format it but that means that l will loose all my data???

Yes, the file system is corrupted and will need to be formatted for the drive to work again. You will unfortunately lose all your data unless you take the drive to a data recovery specialist to recover the data but that can get get quite expensive to it's up to you.

Trying to find manuals how to use the iomega with my apple mac but are not sure which one i have. On the hard-drive it says iomega with an i above it.

Manuals are not the easiest to come by for Iomega hard drives, but I can certainly assist you with formatting your hard drive for your Mac

All you need to do is this:

font.f1 {font: 14.0px Times}  * From your desktop click anywhere on a blank space on your desktop.

*Now you should see Finder listed near the Apple menu icon.

* From the Finder menu, click on Go, then Utilities from the drop-down menu. This will take you to your Utilities folder.

* Locate and launch the Disk Utility application

* Once Disk Utility is open, with your Iomega drive hooked up to your Mac and turned on, look in the left side bar and you should see your hard drive.

* Click on the hard drive and this will make the right window available to you.

* Now click the Partition tab

* It is here that can change your volume scheme from Current to 1 partition (or more).

* Once you have done that make sure to give your hard drive a name.

* Under Format: Make sure to select "Mac OS Extended(Journaled) format (this is the readable format for a hard drive being used on Macs).

* Once you are satisfied that the partition(s) is configured to your liking, the click Options button.

* Select GUID Partition Table for Bootability on an Intel Mac computer or notebook

*or select Apple Partition Map for a Power PC based Mac computer or notebook.

• Click Ok for that selection

• Click the Partition button and your drive will be ready to use once the format completes.

This should do the trick. Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks!

Iomega 500 gb hard drive: large file transfers

The default format for the IOMega drive is FAT32. This format will work on all versions of Windows, as well as Mac OS9 and above. Unfortunately, FAT32 can't handle files larger than 4gigs. If you want to use larger files, you're going to have to remove all the files from your IOMega drive and use your computer to format it to NTFS (Windows 2000/XP/Vista) or HFS+ (Mac OS9/X).

Consult your owner's manual for specific details.
