should be a push button somewhere on the back of motor-they usually have them in yellow or red- sometimes covered by the shroud but try the following first

did you also try in another outlet- or try another tool in that outlet? next wove the arm that turns the unit from auto to off back and forth- unit must be plugged in for this. Check on ya later

  • 42windowman Oct 26, 2008

    have you made any progress?

  • 42windowman Oct 26, 2008

when dows this buzz happen? Does the unit just try to start and just makes that sound?Does motor start at all or does it just make that sound and kick out again?

  • 42windowman Oct 30, 2008

ok - this indicates that for whatever reason the piston is jammed in the cylinder (lack of oil)- remove housing Plastic shroud and expose joint between motor and compressor unit - you must see if motor rotates- then check to see if you can rotate compressor . If no to either - repair the one that will not turn. A pair of vice grips on shaft should turn either- the should spin freely once unjammed. Please use full sentences when you are telling me issues or I cannot effectively help you.Remember I am helping you for free sohelp me out, thanks

I just repaired my compressor which buzzed when turned on, Problem ended up being the capacitor vibrating off the mounting bolt. Check your connections and good luck!

My Whilrpool AC Model number ACM102XJ0 fan is blowing air but it's not cooling.

Air conditioner compressor will not start. When power is applied to the air conditioning outdoor unit the fan starts, but you hear a sound like the compressor is trying to start, "UGGG"..., for about 5 to 10 seconds and then all you hear is the outdoor condenser fan run. The compressor is locked and will not start. What is happening is the compressor is trying to start, but because the compressor motor is locked it tries to start for a few seconds and then because of the high amperage being drawn goes off on internal overload. The internal overload protects the compressor windings from overheating and burning up. I see this many times during the start of the air conditioning season. Some compressors just have a hard time starting after sitting all winter long. Many times I can get the compressor started again without having to buy a new compressor by using the device known as a "Super-Boost." I keep two or three of these on the truck. They have saved many of my customers from having to buy new compressor

My ac central air is blowing air but not cold

Problem #1:Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor. Problem #2: Air conditioner compressor will not start. Carrier ac model 38ckc does not cool properly. Outside unit runs but air coming out of the top is cooler than the other units that we have. Just had a service replacing all the filters and coolant checked...

How do I know if compressor of my house air conditioner is turning on when I start my air conditioner? When I start my air conditioner the fan outside the house turns on, the air is blowing from the vents...

if the compressor is starting there will be a very small dimming in the house lights,if you go outside to the unit and start it from the outside disconnect when the compressor starts you will hear a whine type noise coming from the outside condenser unit that is the hermetic compressor motor operating,no cold air can be a number of issues, low on refrigerant(not likely on the new sealed systems) a bad motor start/run capacitor(quite likely) a bad contactor on the outside unit that supplies power to the compressor, one leg of the 240volts that supplies the compressor power, the fan will run on 120 volts, but the compressor needs 240 volts check the fuses.breaker in the power panel

Air compressor struggles to start but eventually starts

If the proplem only happens after the initial start-up with the tank empty, then your back flow valve is sticking and preventing the compressor from kicking over imediately. If it does it all the time, even when the tanik is empty, then your capacitor on the motor is not charging correctly.

Starting and stopping of air compressor ( no leaks)

This can depend on many variables . (1) How big the air tank of the compressor is, (2) how many PSI the compressor is set to hold, and (3) how many PSI your air gun uses per shot. If you gun is rated at a very high PSI and your compressor has a small tank and low PSI, you may want to consider investing in a larger tank.
