Re: M600 Orange HTC GPRS
Hey nantmel, try look for SETTING (tabs or icons), then try look for CONNECTION, there will be INTERNET CONNECTION or ACCESS POINT, try to look for an option 'CONNECT WHEN AVAILABLE' and 'CONNECT WHEN I NEED IT', as your case, your phone might be turned to 'connect when available', that's why whenever gprs is available, it keeps on connecting, try choose the other option, TURN to CONNECT WHEN NEEDED. hopefully this solves ur problem ^^ thanks for sharing

All phones need APN setting to make them work for gprs or data functions.
You can find the settings from your network operator and then you can follow this video guide on how to enter APN settings in any HTC phone.
This is a tutorial on how to add APN settings to HTC phones for your network providers. Example phone used is a HTC Hero but process is same for all HTC models. APN and Data Settings Change for HTC Phones
Go to settings -> wireless controls
Go to Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
Click Menu and select New APN
All you need to add for most networks is just the APN setting which can be obtained from your simcards network provider
Press Menu and Save
You are ready and have configured data connection settings.
Enjoy your HTC phones unlocked for Voice and Data for any network. see video below

Hello, wifi is a sort of WLAN conection. you need a wireless router to be able to use wifi. there are two ways to connect to the internet on the touch viva. 1st way is by the sim card and that costs you a lot of money!!! the other way is by a wlan router, you can access to the internet as long as you want is you have a flatrate. My good tipp: switch off the gprs connection, it will only cost you a lot of money. you will still be able to make phone calls. Ilost about 60$ (i mean it!) by trying to access to the internet by gprs.
i have just brought a htc phone. and it is sim free but was recently on orange. iam using voda so i need to reset the gprs setttings can you help me. please. you can contacted me at www.tums bumsgym@yahoo .co.uk or call me on 07788929924.
After browsing a lot of sites and experimenting with the settings finally I was able to configure my HTC P3400i with Vodafone Live support without any help from the Vodafone customer care (who were very bad and rude when I called them for getting the setting). The settings is working fine for me in Bangalore. Hope this helps all who bought this phone and struggling for getting the GPRS setting for HTC P3400i.
Below is the step by step instruction: Step 1 Start->Settings->Connections->Tasks->Add a new modem connection:
Enter a name for the connection: <give any name>
Select a modem: Cellular Line(GPRS)
Acess point name: portalnmms
User name: <blank> Password: <blank> Domain:* <blank>
Go to Advanced->TCP/IP select radio button "Use server-assigned IP address"
Go to Advanced->Servers select radio buttion "Use server-assigned address"
Step3: Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced In "Select which networks are automatically used"-> click the Select Networks Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: Select the Connection name which you configured in Step 1
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: Select the Connection name which you configured in Step 1
It keeps connecting because an application keeps wanting to access the internet.
Make sure you set your email to manually download messages.
Turn the Weather Tab off in HTC Home Screen as it automatically downloads the weather.
Turn off "QuckGPS"
Disable Error Reporting to Microsoft in the System settings
Also remember MMS messages will require internet connection.
Everytime you send a MMS or receive a MMS your phone will connect to the internet.
