Cant use your downloaded decision/instruction tree

I can't figger out how to check my voice messages from a remote phone. I've downloaded your decision/instruction tree but find it as intuitive and user friendly as a Microsoft technical manual.

Nope. I guess I need to know what a "voicemail group number" is. I try dialing my office number, the number where my voicemail goes to, but when I push "*" I'm prompted to push the extention of the person I"d like to reach, or to go to a personel directory. I want to go to my voicemail prompt.

Need to no if you have Mitel's embedded voicemail or a third party Voicemail. You could try dialing your office and hitting the # sign. sometimes a backdoor number is setup by your phone Admin for checking Voicemail.

You just have to dial the voicemail group number, & when the voicemail answers press "*" it should then prompt you to enter your mailbox number then ask you for your password.

Message light blinking, but there is no message on phone.

Pressing the Voice Mail button only checks messages on the FIRST LINE. The Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) lights of all lines. Check the icon next to your other line buttons. One should be an envelope. Press that Line Button, THEN press the Voice Mail button.

I can not change the old voice message recording or name on my alcatel 4020

I have had this trouble too, and the answer is remarkably simple - with the handset DOWN, press the [i] button to access the menu. It sounds like the error you had was from doing it with the handset off the hook. Hope this helps.

Hello I have question regarding Avaya phone (red light on the top of the device) Why some users have that light on and some of them they do not?

When you get a new voice message the red light turns on. As long as you don't check the voice message the red light stays on.

We use the Mitel 5212 IP phones for our hotel. We are trying to find a way to retrieve a previous voice message from a previous guest that stayed with us. How should I go about finding this information?...

If you're using the embedded voicemail, you won't be able to retrieve such messages. If you're using another, external, voicemail system, then it might be possible.
Every hotel I've ever installed, I've left hotel admin guides for the voicemail. This information should be in such a guide if your vendor is any decent.

To find out what sort of voicemail you've got, you should contact your vendor.

Sincerely,
Mark

How to check messages remotely?

You need to get voice mail service from the phone company first, unless this phone has one internally. If so, the manual should tell you how.

Voicemail light flashing but no message

This can usually be fixed by calling the phone number that the voice mail indicator light is flashing on from a different phone number. Leave a voice mail message and then go into the voice mail and delete the message that you just left. The indicator light should then go out.

I AM TRYING TO SET UP MY VOICE MAIL, BUT EACH TIME I PRESS THE MESSAGES BUTTON, ALL I GET IS A RECORDING WHICH TELLS ME TO CONTACT THE OPERATOR. SO THEN IT TELLS ME THAT THE OPERATOR IS NOT AVAILABLE.

That is because you need to setup the voice mail in Cisco Unity and also setup the phone in the call manager. Unless you have voice-mail setup it states.....Cisco Unity Messaging system....is the beginning of the message.

How do I set up my voice mail on my Polycom IP 330 Phone?

Voice mail is probably a feature provided by your service provider.
I have a PBX with several different viop phones configured.

The voice mail is stored on the PBX you just need to configure the message waiting light on the phone and possibly a speed button that automatically dials the voice mail code.

I assume that you don't have a PBX and an internet service provider / voice service provider has those features available for you. They should have the documentation you need to configure the phone. If they specifically support your model phone you are in luck. Otherwise you will have to adapt from their generic description.

I have noticed that some really cheap voice plans don't include voice mail.

Hope this helps.
