HI,
You need to connect the computer to the router using the network cable , then access the router to reterive the same. If you donnot have the spare cable. then you need to reset the router, so that it can connect without the password.
Kinldy give the model and manufacturer of the router.

Thanks

Forgotten password for wifi network

Which operating system ??
Your wireless Internet password is the encrypted security pass phrase that was set up when you installed your wireless router.

Your router allows you to access the Internet.
If you have access to more than one wireless network, you may need to remember multiple passwords.

If you happen to forget one password, you have two options: reset your password or locate the current password.

Windows 7 allows you to view the security characters of all your wireless network passwords.
Click the "Wi-Fi" network icon located on the Window's taskbar.

Right-click the name of your network's "SSID" name and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.

Click the "Security Tab." The network security key is now visible but unreadable.

Click the "Show Characters" check box and this will reveal your wireless password.

or
Reset My WiFi Password

Wireless networking is a common feature in homes and offices.
Wireless routers provide access to a single Internet source, and wireless passwords ensure that only select users can access the network.

If a password is forgotten or lost, the password can be recovered or reset by accessing the router's Web-based settings menu.

Most wireless routers also have a reset button, which is capable of returning the router to its default settings which includes resetting the password.

Connect to your Wi-Fi or attach your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Open your Web browser.

Enter the default address of your router.
The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website.

Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1."
Enter your username and password.

Many routers use "admin" for the username and password by default.
Locate the wireless security settings. Disable the wireless security.

Reset to Factory Defaults

Locate the reset button on your router.
Typically the reset button is a small indented hole on the back of the device.

Insert a long thin object such as a paperclip and hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to revert the router to its factory default settings.

Locate the wireless security settings and add security as necessary.

Forgot my network key

You will need to login to your router from another computer or physical network cable, then under wireless security review the key code.

Have wireless network at home trying to add my sons laptop to network but have forgot security key/passphrase which laptop is asking for

All you need to do is log into the router usually with the pc that is attached to the router (wired) by typing into the run command box http://192.168.1.1 Depending on the brand of router you'll either put in admin and no password or admin for the password or admin and password for password. Once in the router go to the wireless security tab and you can see the network key. Hope this helps

Forgot password of wep of the linksys router

on a computer wired to your router.

1. Open an internet explorer browser.
2. Click on the address bar and type in 192.168.1.1
3. It should ask you for a password. Leave the username empty under password type in admin
4. If that does not work try a password that you would normally use as you might have changed it.
5. Inside the page. Go to the wireless tab. Under the word wireless you will see basic wireless to the right is wireless security. Click on wireless security.
6. Under wireless security you can see your WEP key.

I hope this has answered your question sufficiently. If you have more questions please post a reply and i would be happy to assist. Thanks.

We just got wireless internet this past year at our house and when my dad set it up he forgot to write down the password which lets you onto the internet. So now we are able to log on through the computer...

to set the wireless settings you need to use a computer that is connected to your router or the computer that is working on your router wirelessly.

access the setup page of your router using IE on the address bar type the ip of your router, by default it is 192.168.1.1, username=admin and password=password, once your on the setuppage go to wireless settings option on the left pane. you will be able to see the wireless security there.

the reason why you dont know the wireless security for the old computers its because once you typed the security key in the computer will remembers it and save it on the system.

My laptop is already wireless so I know I don't need the flash drive or the software that goes with it. Laptop already connects to internet with cord- no probs. Router is ZyXEL Prestige 660HW- T1....

there is a problem with the security feature of your wireless router (SSID - Service Set Identifier). the most effective solution for this is reseting the router but pressing the small hidden button at the bottom part of the w-router itself. it will automatically reset your router.

the reason why you always connect to a different router is because your router rejects your attempt to connect to it and you computer automatically searched for another router in the area and connect itself to it.

Cause of the issue:

* you forgot the password or (SSID - Service Set Identifier)
* someone put a password on your router without you knowing it
* you accidentally inputted a password or (SSID - Service Set Identifier)

Hope this one works! Because i am sure with it!

Your good rating will be much appreciated, thanks!

Generally access the router control panel panel putting router ip number on internet explorer bar. You will be asked for passwords. Check IP number and password for your model on manual.
On panel go to wireless then security, you find menus at left and top bar of the router control page in internet explorer.
Set encryption and input the password.
Do save all command (button at bottom of page).
set wep password also on wireless networked computers.

Forgot the password/code/security to let somebody else onto my linksys home wireless network. Don't remember how to do any of it or retrieve the security code to access the secure wireless network

Hi,

The easiest would be to reset the router using the small recessed button at the back of the unit. Performing a full hard reset (pressing reset more than 10 seconds) would clear the password. Of course, this action would also clear all other configurations and settings reverting the unit back to factory default.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
