EV-S7000 VCR problem

Hi WelcomeJee,

Your friend "worldvet" wrote a lot of nice things about your ability to fix my problem. I posted those two pictures that you asked for. You posted that you will get back to me but some how your message and your email address never showed up anymore. I did order an original service manual from SONY and I should receive it in two weeks. I don’t like to post my email address for obvious reasons. Could you please post your email address one more time? After I receive my manual then I have more information about the three parts in the picture. I will email you and maybe we can fix it together. Then I will give you an excellent ranking.
I am an electronics and computer design engineer. Over the last 30 years I have fixed a lot of equipments, but this problem got to me. I should have taken a picture every step but I didn’t realize how poor my present service manual is. Maybe the new one would help more. I am sure together we can put it together.

How did it turn out. I have unpacked my EV-s7000 after several years and now I can have it to play my tapes. The tape got stuck in it, noisy on rewind and stop often, when playing tapes also stop.I suspect a bad strap or some sort of lubrication problem.Need help...Sony has a flat rate for repair of $900, Ouch!
any one could give me direction?any ons has an online repair manual to share via email or dropbox.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Brand new Sony EV-S2000 vcr will not play Hi8 tapes

I'm not sure what you mean by brand new as Sony has not made these for a while. What exactly is the problem? Is the unit NOS (new old stock) and unused but a bit older? If that is the case, the rubber parts inside may need to be changed. Rubber dries out and gets slippery with age and may not have enough friction to allow the unit to work properly.

Please update this with the symptoms.

How do I get my VCR to tape programs

Two things to check here. Lets verify the basic functioning of the unit. Have you tried playing back a pre-recorded tape? If so, please post the results here. I suspect that a pre-recorded tape will fail as well. If so, I'll post instructions on how to resolve the problem.

Please keep me posted.

Picture gets bad after playing a while

Just the usual problem of needing the rubber belts replaced.
They last about 6 years normally so you are overdue.
Buy a kit of belts for your model from all kinds of sites on the net and install them yourself if you are handy with delicate mechanisms.
Hope ya fix it!

VCR DVD Combo works for a while then shuts off

This is the problem with combo units. When the VCR develops the usual drive problems due to the rubber parts wearing, the whole thing is inop. They are a real pain to work on too. Be real nice to your VCR fix ya shop and they should be able to save your unit.
