Question about Kenmore 24.8 cu. ft. TRIO Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Kenmore TRIO with a Buzzing then click

We have the same problem 8 to 10 seconds of humming then a click and silence for about 4 minutes then it starts again. Over and over for the last 2 days, temperature in both freezer and refrig is 47 degrees. Sears won't make any statement as to what the problem may be, even though I tried to discuss all the postings on the internet. They say they are unaware of any problems or recalls. Very uniformed or an IQ of 2, deliberate or not.
Any known problems with model# 59675522400 serial# 10886782ER

I have the same buzzing then click problem with my Kenmore Trio. Is the relay easily replaced or do I need a service call.

Hate to admit how dumb this makes me sound; but I had the same problem. Fridge ran fine, but there was a loud buzz that lasted about 8 to 10 seconds.. then silence... then a rattling sound.

Drove me nuts for a over 2 weeks.

Turns out it was the ice maker motor. I dont have the ice maker hooked up, and some how the lever got pulled down; so the motor turn on and try to fill.

Have the same issue (buzzing click) then eventually after 2~3 times the compressor starts. I have replaced the relay (came without a black plug at the back?) but it is still doing the same buzzing and click. What is the black plug for?(looks like some type of fuze) What are the symptoms of a compressor dying?

You need to clean your coils under the 'fridge,' and wait 24 hours, if it is not not getting cold, perhaps replace the freon. If that does not work, you need to call a repairman.

no it wont work, you can try replacing the overload relay assy mounted on the side of the compressor(football sized motor) behind refrig. i would check your manual for warr. information depending on age you may be covered for faulty compressor.

KENMORE TRIO 2004 59675523400 REEFER/FREEZER NOT COOLING

It is the compressor that has failed. The hum is it trying to start and the following click is the overload protector opening. What is the temperature where the refrigerator is located? Allow the compressor to cool down before trying to restart it. If it still does not restart after it has cooled off it is done.

Buzzing intermittent

It sounds like the ice maker. If you don't have the water hooked up, and the ice sensor bar is in the down position, the ice maker assembly will attempt to make ice continuously.
Solution is easy: raise the ice sensor bar until it clicks in the up position. It will lock in this position, and the ice maker will not cycle anymore.

Trio: humming and temp in freezer rising

It sounds like the condensor fan motor is seizing up. This is the fan that cools the compressor down. Does the outside of the fridge feel excessively hot to touch? Can you feel air being circulated under the fridge or behind the fridge? It could also be a faulty defrost timer. Try to identify where the buzzing is coming from and if it is the condensor fan you can put a normal standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor untill the repairman can get to you.
