If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

The discs could not be read and they have no scratches and look fine then

The Wii console will not play game discs (disc is not recognized)
System displays either error message "Unable to read disc" or "Disc could not be read"

Note

Wii Game Discs are region locked, and can only be played on hardware from the same country where the game was released. (A European game cannot be played on a North American system, for example.)

What To Do:

The Wii console is only compatible with Wii and GameCube discs. It is not compatible with DVDs or discs made for other home consoles. Verify that the disc you are inserting is compatible with the Wii system.
An error message may display if the disc is ejected during play. Return to the HOME Menu before changing discs.
Verify that the console is placed correctly.
If the Wii console is lying flat, the game disc slot should be above all three buttons and the SD Card slot.
If the Wii console is standing vertically, the power button should be on the top and the console should be in the stand. Note: Only Wii consoles with model number RVL-001 are intended to be placed vertically. (Learn more)
Verify that the disc is being inserted properly.
If the console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards.
If the console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
Check the non-printed side of the game disc for dirt or severe damage (such as scratches or cracks).
If the disc is dirty, try cleaning the game disc. (How to)
If the disc is damaged or scratched, it will need to be replaced. Please click here for replacement options.
If the problem occurs with only one game disc, there may be a problem specific to that game. Click here to check our list of specific game issues.
Make sure only licensed accessories are being used. Unlicensed products do not undergo Nintendo's testing and evaluation process. They may not work at all with our game systems, and they may have compatibility problems with certain games or accessories.

My wii will not play the wii sports game? this is the second wii sports game I tried and it won't read it for some reason

Some simple fixes:
- Turn the disc around. When I first got my Wii I put the discs in backwards pretty often.
- Clean the disc off, and check for scratches. Scratched discs cause issues and may not be read.
- Try yet another Wii Sports game disc. Maybe it was just bad luck that this one was also broken.
- Try another game disc; it's possible it's not Wii sports but the Wii itself that is broken.

Additionally, make use of Nintendo's support page. It's actually pretty helpful with common problems such as this. At worst, after going through all their fixes you'll be able to send in your Wii for a replacement if the problem persists (assuming you're under warranty). Here's a link to the support page for your specific problem.

Good luck!

Disc won't play

As the Wii uses discs that can be scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged -- it's important to first check the disc.

Look for fingerprints or other smudge marks. If you have dirty marks on the disc, you can wash it off with regular dish soap and water. Not too much soap though. Make sure you dry it off with something very soft [like a microfiber cloth] before you put it back into your Wii.

Second -- scratches will stop a disc from playing... or the disc will play until it gets to the scrached section then give you an error. Check and make sure there are not too many -- or deep scraches.

If a scratched game won't play through but other games play just fine -- chances are the disc is bad. However, if nothing is playing through on your Wii, not even a new game, there is a problem with the Wii's DVD drive. There is a laser in the drive that reads discs -- and many other moving parts in there. The following website sells the Wii DVD drives. It's not too difficult to replace yourself:

My wii console turns on and when I place the wii fit or wii sports CD in the console, everything looks fine. I then get the menu on the screen. But when I press the wii fit -nothing happens. When I place...

if by doesnt begin you do you mean doesnt read disc or fails to start game because if its doesnt read disc look for scratches on the disc if its doesnt initialize then it could be the disc drive itself is bad then go to http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/index.jsp

Wii console will not read Wii Resort Disc?

The Wii Sports Resort disc is either dirty or scratched. A disc cleaning procedure can be found on pg. 24 of the Wii Operations Manual: System Setup. If the Wii still doesn't read the disc, the Wii itself could be damaged. Turn the power OFF and unplug the AC adapter, then contact Nintendo Customer Service. (1-800-255-3700 in the USA and Canada)

Wii game disc could not be read

Some games have known issues

* Super Smash Bros. Brawl
* Excite Truck - No cursor
* Pokémon Battle Revolution

Is this just on one disk? If so,

* Check the bottom of the Game Disc (the side without any labels or writing) for any dirt or damage (such as cracks, scratches, etc.).

o If the game looks significantly damaged, such as with scratches or cracks, it will need to be replaced.

o If the game looks dirty (fingerprints, smudges), try cleaning the Game Disc. If the problem persists, the Game Disc will need to be replaced.

On mulitpul but some games play, are you able to play one type of Game Disc but not another (for example, you can play Wii Game Discs but not Nintendo GameCube Game Discs)?

If so, then it is likely there is a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired.

If all discs will not play this indicates the problem is likely with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired.

I hope this was helpful.

Wii Game Disc Off Of Amazon

Have you checked the disc for smudges? It sounds like you have a dirty disc. If that's not it, have you tried other discs in your Wii?
If the disc worked before, it should still work, unless:

A. Disc is dirty
B. Disc is scratched
C. Wii isn't playing any discs
