Hi again,

Thank you for the direct "Ask Me".

Unfortunately, you can not uninstall Internet Explorer. Microsoft says that it is a system critical and therefore is an integral part of the Operating System. If for some reason IE is not working, pls see this Microsoft How To pages to enable you to repair IE.

Alternately, you can try to download, install and thereafter use Mozilla Firefox.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

If you are using broadband/DSL connection or through a network for your Internet, pls set your Dial-up to "Never dial a connection. This may be found in the Connection tab of your Internet Options in Control Panel.

    Cheers.

Pls try in Firefox, Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Connection Setting button, either:
Direct connection to the Internet; or
Auto-detect proxy settings for this network.
That is of course not unless Verizon FiOS and/or Spring Mobile tells otherwise.

    Hi again,

Glad that you have figure things out, congratulations. A favor, might you reconsider the rating you gave me? Perhaps unknown to you, your ratings brought my numbers down. This is due to my rank at this site and even a 'Helpful' is detrimental.

    Appreciate much the update.

My internet explorer 9 is always shutting down without apparent reason, especially when trying to share a video from youtube onto facebook

I would suggest for the meantime to move back to IE 8 as there are lots of issues with IE 9 as of today July 15, 2011. I wrote down information how to put it back to IE8.
1.Go to the Add or Remove Programs section of the Control Panel. In Windows 7 you will find this just below the address bar when you open my computer. 2. On the Add or Remove Programs make sure to show updates 3. When the list has been populated, scroll down until you find the Internet Explorer section 4. Remove/uninstall Internet Explorer 9 leaving the Internet Explorer 8 on the list 5. After completing the removal, reboot your computer You should now have Internet Explorer 8 active on your system.

Hi josephc_agni,

You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
  1. Close all programs.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  4. In the list of currently installed programs, click Windows Internet Explorer 8, and then click Remove.

NOTE: If Windows Internet Explorer 8 does not appear in the list of installed updates, try the alternative step given below.
  5. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
  6. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
ALTERNATIVE STEP:

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:
  1. Carefully select and then copy the following command: %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type Cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.
  4. Right-click inside the Cmd.exe window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.
  5. Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
  6. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

if you are using internet explorer 8 then go to control pannel then addremove programs , and remove internet explorer 8 from the list , before doing it make sure that you make a back up of al your favriots , as they will be lost once you uninstall i.e 8 . once done with uninstallation of i.e 8 , restart the computer and go to addremove programs again , on the right hand side select add remove windwos components , uncheck internet explorer and click next , once done with it , restart the computer, go to addremove prog again , then to add remove windwos components , check the internet explorer and click next this wil reinstall the internet explorer on the computer, and once done try using internet explorer for logging in to face book . this time it would not log you off.

Getting message stating add-on was running when problem occurred

Try going into your control panel & uninstall your Internet explorer, then re-install it. IE7 uninstall can be found in the main add-remove program window, IE6 uninstall can be found under the add-remove windows components part of the add-remove programs. To re-install IE7, though, you need to go to windows update to download IE7 again. This won't be a problem because uninstalling IE7 automaticaly returns you to IE6
