No Display output on the screen Nor the controllers power on

  • No signal on my Tv but the green light on my console is on, but the tv just stays blank. MY controllers doesn't turn on but keeps bleeping the red light and goes off. I've tried unplug and unplugging the cables and the reset the output(holding the power button for red then back to red) and still doesn't give any signal nor sound. Please if i can get any solution for this problem i will really appreciate it

Yep, no signal, controllers won't connect, but green/blue with disc lights are on. Resetting video settings with a long press doesn't work either. When plugged in, the controllers don't respond at all.

Same thing. There's no signal at all to the TV. Controllers blink and won't connect, unless plugged in when they don't show a response at all. Green light comes on (and blue if a disc is present) but still no signal. Long press video settings reset does not work either. However, resetting at any time makes the system beep three times.

Note: How to reset video output settings
If you are attempting to change to an HDMI cable from a different video cable or if the video output settings do not match those required for the display in use, the screen may stay black. If the screen stays black for more than 30 seconds, you may need to reset the video output settings of the PS3.

To reset video output settings:

  1. Turn the PS3 system off by holding the Power button on the front of the console till you see the power light turn red.
  2. Then hold the power button on the front of the console for at least five seconds until you hear a second beep to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

Minimum Requirements

  • PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system
  • SIXAXISTM wireless controller (and USB cable)
  • AC power cord
  • HDMI cable1 (sold separately)
  • TV or display monitor with HDMI port and capable of displaying picture in HD resolution
  • Updated system software installed on your PS3
Visit PS3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.
  • TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port
You need to know the TV "Input" or "Video" channel for the HDMI port on your TV. For instance, if your TV has multiple "Input" or "Video" channels, (i.e., "Input 1", "Input 2", "Input 3", etc.), you will need to toggle through each "Input" channel on your TV until you find the correct channel that displays the HDMI picture. This is important to remember, especially if you do not see the HDMI picture after you connect the cable and configure the PS3 settings. Please refer to the TV instruction manual for more information.

Power light is green or orange - TV screen is blank
If the power light is green or orange and your screen remains blank, follow these steps.
    1. Completely power down your system by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC Adapter from the Wii for a moment, then plug it back in.
    2. Make sure your Wii console has the most current Wii system menu. Download the latest update (how to), and then test your Wii console to determine if the problem has been resolved.
If you continue to experience this issue, there is a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired.

Comes on but blank screen

Perform the following steps to reset the Video Output Settings.
  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

My screen stays blank when I turn on. Lights blue and green come on but screen stays blue

If your display settings aren't set to automatic this can occur. Example: if you have set resolution to 1080i and are trying to play it on a display that has 1080p you will get a blank screen or no signal message. you will have to connect your PS3 to the last display you had an image on and change the "display setting" to "automatic" for your PS3 to work on all displays. when you choose a specific resolution to the "display settings" it will only work on that specific resolution. hope this helps.

X box looks like it starts up but the screen will stay blank

Check the status of the "HD" switch on the side of the video connector, nearest to the Xbox. I have the same non-HDMI Xbox. If I have it hooked up via component to a non-HD TV, and the switch is on "HD", it will show no video.
