Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

Zen firmwair When I turn on my zen it has the main screen, then it says rebooting and a bit of the way through it goes to the firmware problem screen. i have restarted it agen and agen. However no reformat screen comes up. It still says firmware problem. don't know what to do.

Hello,

This sounds like it might be a hard drive problem. To put it into Recovery Mode, do this: put a paperclip in the Reset hole while holding the power button in the On position. Then release the paperclip and continue to hold the power button until it goes to the Recovery Mode screen. You should at this point try Format and Scan Disk/Cleanup, then Reboot. If it still gets stuck at the same spot, try the following:


Download the Zen firmware to your PC, then reboot your PC and connect the Zen via USB cable. Open the firmware icon to begin the download.

If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.

When i turned my creative zen v plus mp3 on it said firmware problems.and i t had a choice to clean up delete firmware and reload firmware . 1 more it was reboot and i tried all of them and none of them...


my 8gb black white creative zen microphoto mp3 gets to the recovery mode screen and has the four options i tried every thing and it wont work wat do i do???????

I've had the same problem and stuck a paper clip in the little whole at the bottem that says reset. It's working just fine now.

If you reset it and it goes back to just the zen screen, then I had this problem once too. You need to go to recovery mode (which is still possible).
  1. Detach the Zen Vision:M player from your PC , and ensure that the unit is off.
    If the battery is too low, charge the battery fully before continuing
  2. Slide the Power switch towards the Power icon vision_m_reset.jpgand hold the switch in the Power On position.
3. Push the end of a pin-like object (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the reset hole,
press gently and remove.

It will display the following options.
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.

Problem with 'Hardisk Problem'


"Hard-disk Problem"... I'd just like to confirm once more that smacking the player on its rhs while turning it on works.I had to smack it fairly hard though so don't be afraid!! I didn't try smacking it till I checked out the threads above so thanks everyone I'm a happy man again!! :)

I actually had this exact problem a little while ago with my Zen Sleek-- Booting straight to the Recovery menu, and only getting a generic "Harddisk problem" error screen any time I would try to do anything.

If your Zen is not responding or in a "reboot loop" the following information from creative explains how to access the players recovery mode

you might want to verify that your new player has the latest firmware available, as this might address the unresponsive-button issue you're having. Firmware updates are surprisingly easy - you just download the firmware file from Creative's website, plug in your player, and double-click the downloaded file. It's that easy.
