Can you post a picture of the screen as the TV is playing, this way I can see if the picture is fuzzy, or if the images are split, all of which classify as not a clear picture. A picture of the screen will help with the diagnosis.

Hitachi has LED’s, green ‘lights’ and a red light to determine what circuit may be the problem; after removing the back of TV, bottom only, plug TV back in and observe which LED’s come on …..BUT most important which LED’s don’t come on; locate and note number, EG; DP37 and etc.
10 years is about life for these, booming noise like a gun shoot? i would suspect a cap blew up can you open the back and see any burn marks or paper ?
