Sounds like the motor is overheating possibly because of a clog or maybe a filter that needs to be cleaned. Make sure you have a new bag and clean all the filters and hopefully that will take care of your problem. Hope this helps!
put a brand new switch on it and that should solve your problem the switches on vacuums go out all the time causing people to through a great vacuum out and I pick them up put a new switch on them and then they work like new
You don't have to open the cannister. You can easily remove the black plastic collar through which the cord is supposed to emerge. The collar has a little springy tab that holds it in place. Once the collar is removed, you can reach in and grab the cord and pull it out.
You can always call the toll free number on their paper bags and ask for a service tech. They have walked me though a motor replacement after my kids sucked up water.
