There usually is a small recessed reset button on the back if you press and hold this for 5 secs while unplugged the router will revert to factory settings. (including clearing passwords)

you can then use the default connection details, which are usually published in the quick setup guide
this info may be replicated on the manufacturer's website

Hello! my account is coloperemia@yahoo.com I

If you're typing your password in and it's not letting you log in. Make sure caps lock is off. If it still won't work then it will ask you for your secret questions/tell phone number. The reason it does this is because when you first created your account you set secret info that only you know and if you ever forget your password or someone else gets it, you can recover your account with the secret info. If someone else has changed your password and you can't remember your recovery i.e 2 questions and cell phone number, unfortunately u will have to make a new email account. Try to remember what they were, I know u probably created it along time ago so chances are u've forgotten. U might want to make sure there's no viruses on ur computer too. Download AVG free and run a scan.

ok, i had the same problem

the details should be:
username: poweruser
password: password
(yes, the password actually is password, once you connect you can change the password later by typing in the address of the router into a browser, using the details to log on to the router and have a look at the settings)

if the details dont work, google "default login for <router company name and model: for example: Netgear CG123456 (this one doesnt exist, i made up the model number) >"

hope this helps

My wireless settings got changed and need to re configure

You need to make sure that the settings on you laptop match settings on your router. You can log in to your router by opening your browser (from computer connected to router) and type 192.168.1.1 in the address. If you haven't been in it before the user name should be "admin" and the password is "password". Look for the wireless section and write down setting and enter them in the config for the wireless on your laptop. If you have a friend that may be a little more experienced ask for help. Not to infer that you can't do it I just don't know your expertise.

yep, someone is piggybacking off your router. I found a kid last week doing the same thing. Go into the router control panel, type this into your address bar 192.168.1.1 ,that should get you into the first screen for your router, then Log in, if you never changed the password go to the second line and type admin into the second line, that should take you to the setup page, click on wireless, you will then see a panel that shows your connection status. Change the encryption to wep or wpa,1 or 2, it's just going to encrypt the signal. You will see a key that is quite long, you can change that to a ten digit or more number that you will remember. You will have to go into each machine that is in your network, and type in the new key that you made along with the wep or wpa encryption you changed it to. That is it you no longer have an open connection nor a shared connection. Just remember that if you use a WiFi phone or anything else wifi, it will automatically ask for the "KEY" from now on. That's just the way life is now, kids don't consider it stealing. You need to do this right away, anyone who is hacking into your network, could easily obtain access to your files passwords etc, with very little skill, also change the "admin" default password on the router log in page, and write everything down or you won't be able to get in without reseting everything, good luck

I am trying to set the internet connection on my wii system. At the access point - its' locked and it's asking for a password or key for my wireless router. I have no idea!!

acutlaly the default user and password for a NETGEAR wireless router is

USERNAME: Admin (no capitals)
PASSWORD: password (NO Capitals)

you might look on the bottom of the router and look for the default address: eg: 195.242.31.0 go into INTERNET EXPLORER and type that in the search bar then log in with the username and password i gave you and turn off a key for entry to the wireless router, or you can change the password- EMAIL ME AT JACKSON-H@HOTMAIL.COM if you need a picture guided conference.

Have wireless network at home trying to add my sons laptop to network but have forgot security key/passphrase which laptop is asking for

All you need to do is log into the router usually with the pc that is attached to the router (wired) by typing into the run command box http://192.168.1.1 Depending on the brand of router you'll either put in admin and no password or admin for the password or admin and password for password. Once in the router go to the wireless security tab and you can see the network key. Hope this helps

to set the wireless settings you need to use a computer that is connected to your router or the computer that is working on your router wirelessly.

access the setup page of your router using IE on the address bar type the ip of your router, by default it is 192.168.1.1, username=admin and password=password, once your on the setuppage go to wireless settings option on the left pane. you will be able to see the wireless security there.

the reason why you dont know the wireless security for the old computers its because once you typed the security key in the computer will remembers it and save it on the system.

Hello, I have a RCA digital broadband model #DHG535-2 modem from comcast, i recently purchased a Linksys wireless-g broadband router model #WRT54G2V1 The problem I am having is connecting from my laptop...

If your trying to connect wirelessly with your laptop make sure that you have the following information of the router;
1. Wireless network name or SSID
2. Wireless security settings; WEP 64/128 bit ot WPA

If your not familiar with the settings then you may need to access the setup page of your wireless router. Hardwire the laptop to the router or if you have a main computer that is already connected with an ethernet cable, open Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or any web browser you are currently using. On the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 (router's default IP), then you will receive a pop up asking for a username and a password, there is no username and for the password type "admin" then click the Wireless tab on the router and check the basic wireless settings, if your not comportable with the settings then change the following; SSID - use a name that is easy to remember, Channel - 1,6, 11 is ideal, then for the Wireless Security choose WPA Personal and enter a 8 digit WPA Passphrase(pasword), remember to click save settings every tab that yuo go to or else the settings will na take effect. Then check if the laptop will detect the signal of the router and when it prompts you for a password or network key, just enter the 8 digit code that you have configured earlier.

If you have further questions regarding the setup of the router just post a reply and I'll to give you a response if my sched will allow me.

Hope this will atleast provide you with some idea in setting the router properly for your laptop.

Regards,
