Hello kjmjkm
Welcome to Fixya

You said,
Your daughter opened the washing machine shortly after it started now it is shut down. You get lights but it will not start...what should You do?

O'kay, this should be painless.
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes( If you can not reach the plug, turn off the breaker instead)
When you plug it back in it should reset the system and the problem should be solved!

Let me know ho you are!
Thank You Huuum

    The washer will not start
    1. Make sure door is firmly closed.
    2. Make sure the washer is plugged in.
    3. Make sure the water source faucet is turned on.
    4. Make sure to press the Start/Pause pad.
    5. Make sure the Child Lock is not activated,

If still not working perhaps the Child Lock is on by accident.
See if you have these buttons and attempt to unlock the child lock!
The washer controls can be locked to prevent
    unwanted use by children.
    1. Press the Chime and Delay
Start pads at the same time for
    three seconds.
    2. The Child Lock light will
    illuminate.
    3. To unlock, press the Chime and Delay Start pads
at the same time for three seconds. The Child
    Lock light will go out.

Perhaps it had nothing to do with your daughter opening the door.
Check these causes for not running!
    • Plug cord into live electrical outlet.
    • Check fuse or reset circuit breaker.
    • Close door and push the Start/Pause pad to start the washer.
For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is
    closed.
    • This may be a pause or soak period in the cycle.
Wait briefly and it may start.
    • Check screens on inlet hoses at the faucets for obstructions.
    Clean screens periodically.

Washer just shuts down

If the washer is turning off mid cycle then the problem most likely has something to do with the draining or the filling.

First check the drain hose is not to far down the standpipe. If it is to far down then the water might siphon out during fill. The water would fill and drain at the same time. One cycle I would like you to try is the "Rinse Only" cycle. This is a simple, short cycle that should just fill once, drain and spin. If the washer will do this then the major components are most likely okay.

Make sure the water drains out and let me know if the drain pump is the source of the noise you hear.

I have an asko 11505 clothes washer. For some reason, it is not going through all of the spinning cycle, it spins for a short time, then stops abrutely. I cleaned the coin stop, cleaned out all water...

My Asko 11505 washer fills only a little water then shuts off. If I drain the washer with the drain hose from under the machine, then the machine will start up and fill enough water to fill the hose again, then shut off.

Washer powers down during wash cycles

It is most likely a very slow fill problem ,either the cold or hot water supply is restricted and the machine cannot sense the right water temp. and will shut down .

Machine cannot wash properly with a small amount of water.

Ckeck ,the screens in the water valve or at the hoses at the top where the faucets are ,clean them or replace them but never leave them out .

Shutting down on rinse cycle

Hi this could means that you may need to replace the washing machine bearings. Once the bearings are bad, the motor overheats and it will automatically shut down after the first rinse.

Washer door pops open during wash cycle

Start the washer in a cycle. When the door locked light comes on, before unit gets to full of water, see if you can pull door open. If so, you probably have a broken latch. The wax motor is activating the switch, but latch is not actually closing. There was a door latch upgrade for some of these models.

Problem with washing machine

New door sensor im afraid, unless the machine senses that the door is properly shut none of your wash or spin cycles will start.Sensor located inside washer casing , where lock pin on door handle enters machine. It may just be loose, try tightening the two screws either side of lock keep.If it needs replacing you will need to UNPLUG washer ,remove lid and slide your arm down inside front of washer to access.Good luck.
