I had this same problem. The Zenith rep told me to unplug the TV, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, plug it back in and then turn it on. It worked and I haven't had a problem with it since. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
The Lamp will no cause any color distortion. The "Replace Lamp" message comes up after a certain amount of hours after watching the TV because the lamp only last a certain number of hours before needing a replacement one.
It sounds like a light engine problem. There is no quick fix, you need to replace the whole light engine which is very costly (light engines usually run at least $500) and time consuming (need to take whole TV apart to replace part).
try holding the enter button on the tv and the mute button on the remote. a reset screen will pop up and then just press the center direction button twice.
