Press and hold the Menu button for several seconds to toggle the OSD (on-screen display) Lock on and off. The Menu button is the third button from the left in the group as you look at the front of the monitor. You should see a message on the screen when the OSD lock is disabled.
The OSD Lock feature is described in the manual and is the same for all W53 monitors. See http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-W2753VC-PF for the manual of one of the monitors. The direct link to the manual came up as http://www.lg.com/us/lgecs.downloadFile.ldwf?DOC_ID=KROWM000230850&what=MANUAL&fromSystem=LG.COM&fileId=KROWM000230850.pdf&ORIGINAL_NAME_b1_a1=W2753VC_EN.pdf .
You need to adjust that through the on screen menu that handles how long the PC will allow the picture to be displayed. Depending on what version of Windows, if you right click the mouse on the desktop, you should be able to access screen options that allow you to tell the PC how long the monitor should stay on, or when to turnoff/hibernate, etc.
When you are on on screen menu setup, there should be 'reset to factory setting' to put it back to factory default setting. I am not sure which exact model you have, but you cann download user manuals here: http://www.retrevo.com/search?q=LG+Flatron+L1718S+
Try to reset it
Scroll through the menu options by using the up and down arrow buttons located just under the "Menu" button. Scroll down to the "Setup" icon, which looks like a big cog. Press the "Auto/Set" button to access the Setup menu.Scroll, using the down arrow, to "Factory Reset." This setting is located at the bottom of the Setup menu.Press the "Menu" button on the right side of the monitor. This will bring up the On Screen Display. If nothing happens when the "Menu" button is pressed, press and hold it for several seconds to unlock the On Screen Display.Press the "Auto/Set" button to choose "Factory Reset" and then press the down arrow to reset the monitor.
Press and hold the MENU button for about 5 seconds. This should unlock the controls. On some monitors it will be the power button that you need to press for 5 seconds to unlock. If none of this works, it may be a malfunction needing servicing.
