"Wrong Disk" error

When I try to play my burned disk in a DVD player it takes 1-3 minutes for it to load and then the error message 'wrong disk' appears. I have used other name brand DVD-Rs and they seem to work fine. Is it the brand of DVD player or the disk itself?

I would assume that you finalized the disk after you burned them. THat being the case try the disk on another DVD player. If that does not work try burning another disk. Its possible that its either a failed burn, a picky DVD player or plain defective disc. So the only option left is to isolate the probelm.

Why is my dvd player always saying wrong disc

When it says wrong disk there must be a reason why. To test the system, you should put in a bought DVD, not one you burned yourself on the computer. If that DVD does not give a message, you know the player is 100%.
What could be wrong with self made disks?
First a normal DVD has a silver or gold layer to reflect the light coming from the laser. A disk you can burn yourself, has a dye, which changes colour when the laser burns its info. It ls less and less reflective, compared with the silver or gold plated ones.
Then when you have burned the DVD's from your computer, with a video format, other then the DVD format, most DVD players can't play that. There is only one DVD format and there are hundreds or different (not with DVD compatible) video formats, you can play on computer and MP4 players.
I hope this is enough info for now.

Keep say wrong disk

First, are you trying to play a burned disk, like a CD-RW, or DVD-RW style disk? Sometimes certain DVD players will not play burned disks. Check your owner's manual. If you don't have one, go to the Memorex website and they may have s section where you can download a PDF version for free. Most sites do. Just type in your model number. Second, have you tried other disks, and are they ALL saying the same thing? If so, then it's possible that there is dust or dirt inside near the laser eye, and it's giving you the "wrong disk" message as an error. Try making sure that you have a clean disk, and pick the one in your collection that has the least amount of scratces/imperfections on the shiny side. If it still gives you that message, you can try either using one of those cans of compressed air to blow any dust or debris out of the DVD player and try it again. If that doesn't work, you could try a DVD Player cleaning kit, which you can get at Walmart, or Radio Shack, etc pretty cheap, then try it again. If it still doesn't work, there may be a problem with the unit itself, and you can consider making a claim on the Warranty if it's still covered, taking it in to an electronics repair shop, or just buying a new one. Hope this helps you out. Good luck!

"wrong disk" message appears after load time

If this happens on more than one DVD, it might be necessary to clean the lens of the DVD player. Safe commercial products are available at local drug stores for around ten dollars.
The "wrong disk" message is usually associated with Data disks, i.e. those having computer files rather than DVD movie files.
If this is an older DVD player, the DVD may have been written on a high-speed DVD writer which creates smaller data spots which may not be read correctly on older DVD players.
Barring these problems, it is probably just broken. DVD players, although not having as many moving parts as VCRs, do not last indefinitely.

Make sure you are using the right disk IE, DVD-R or DVD+R. Most Newer DVD player's will play DVD-R but very few play DVD+R

Solutions to incorrect disk error c105 & c104

Hello gjbrokke,

First make sure the disc is compatible with the dvd player (CD-R+ , or CD-R - )

Second make sure the region code of the dvd you burned is compatible with the dvd region settings on your dvd player.

One of those two are preventing the disc from playing in your sansui player.

DVD will not load/format new disk

I have got exactly the same problem. Thought I had found some discs that worked as the first one formatted, since then all have come up with that crappy error protection message. Samsung really should sort this out.

Wrong disk

There are many chip sets for DVD machines and each has preferences for a range of disk types- most will play straight commercial discs- but things get a bit tricky with the many and various types of 'burned' disks from computers. The strange thing is - it seems the cheaper the player the more versatile they be whilst a Hi grade one can be a tad fussy about what it will and will not do. So what does this mean to you? Check the types of disk you have been playing on it and stick to it- come back with exactly what disks it don't like
