Question about Microsoft Multimedia Optical Keyboard/Mouse KBMMSCOMBO

1 Answer

Keyboard Reset? I have a very simple Microsoft Multimedia Wireless Keyboard 1.1. The characters are all typing erratically, it seems like letters are numbers, numbers are letters, letters are !_)(#@*_)(#@*. How do I reset it? The ENTER button does not seem to work, as it now types a character. I also discovered that the 'F" Lock key (function lock?) seems to now be the ENTER button. Help!

Thank you for your help, but this did nothing to fix the problem.

I switched USB ports, I went to the website you recommended, and downloaded the updated driver for the keyboard. I also downloaded the keyboard hardware. After rebooting, settings indicated that it was already set to English, batteries were in excellent working order, but the keys were still all crazy. (BTW, this occurred on my lap top - the only way to navigate through all this was through the laptop's keypad, fortunately!)

After trying many other things, including removing batteries and let keyboard stand without power for 10 minutes hoping for a hard reset.

I turned the keyboard around and there was a graphic image of the wireless optical receiver, a finger pointing at it with a number 1m and a button. Then a number 2 with an image of the keyboard pointing at a button. I looked at the keyboard and saw the CONNECT CHANNEL button. I followed that, and ALAS!

    Wireless Keyboard Reset complete.

Try To download the latest drivers for the keyboard that you are using, visit the following Microsoft hardware Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK

If the issue occurs again, connect the keyboard to a different computer. If the keyboard functions correctly on a different computer, the port to which the keyboard was connected on the original computer may be damaged. If this is the case, contact your computer manufacturer to inquire about how to repair or replace the damaged port.
If the keyboard does not function correctly on another computer, the keyboard may be defective. If this is the case, and the warranty on the keyboard is still valid, you can exchange the defective keyboard for a new keyboard.

good luck :)

Gateway laptop keyboard typing incorrect letters

Windows has support for many input-languages, e.g., for keyboards made in France with accented characters,
and for the DVORAK keyboard layout (which is a complete
rearrangement of the letters on the keyboard for maximum
typing-speed).

Go into "Control Panel", and "Regional and Language" and click the "Language" tab, and switch to the "USA Keyboard".
