SOURCE: I have Philips growing

I think it's less a problem with your lights than with your technique. Are you protecting these plants from the sun for a week or so when you put them out? Put a shade over them, let them have only indirect light for a few days, then give them a little direct light, then more. Gotta ease them into things, to them the difference between your lights and the sun is like the difference between a drinking fountain and a firehose is to you and I.

Just bought 4 new 1000W Super high output HPS bulbs. Only one of them is really bright. The others are about 80% by eye. The brightest one is nearest to the transformer stack but the others don't...

A ballast for a 1000 240 volt fixture will lose a small amount of output over time , but should nt be too noticeable . I suggest you take one of the dimmer bulbs and install it into the fixture that has the brightest bulb in it now . If the new bulb is now the brightest of all , then you know your other ballasts have lost some intensity . I have also seen on some bulbs depending on the gas inside the glass( ex. HPS or Metal Halide) which gives off the different color , will take a while on initial start up , to burn at full intensity . It is also possible that you were given used bulbs which would explain the 20 percent loss in intensity . Good luck

What is the use of thistelescope?

There are many uses for a telescope, but only two come to mind:

1. Looking at constellations in the sky during the night.

2. Checking in on your neighbors.

Either way, lots of fun.

Light inside the microwave is out.

Hello, This is a repeat of a previous post I made some time ago. It is for your make/model, if it is built in.... Mine is installed also, and I've had to replace the bulb twice. I wised up the second time and installed an access hole where I can pull my microwave out about 6" and access the bulb. I use a 35 watt 120v halogen bulb, with a GY 8.6 base, Lowe's part number 15797. If your's is different, the specs will be stamped on the metal beside the reflector when you remove the sheetmetal. You have to remove the microwave completely from the cabinet and remove the sheetmetal case that surrounds the entire unit. You can then access the lamp socket by looking in from the top. The first time, I took out the reflector with the socket. The bulb can be replaced by removing the two small screws adjacent to the socket on top of the reflector. My access port is a hole cut into the top. I cover the hole with a piece of sheetmetal and two sheetmetal screws. Seems to work just fine. If you do decide to cut a hole, do so with the metal enclosure off and away from the microwave to avoid getting any metal shavings into the machine! If, however, yours is an over the stove type, it may be possible to remove the front grille and replace the lamp.
Regards! --W/D-- feel free to rate this solution! Thanks!

Growing lights Types

There are three major types of lighting systems available right now: incandescent, fluorescent, and high intensity discharge. Incandescent lights are horribly inefficient (especially the screw-in "grow bulb" type) and really not an acceptable option for plant growth. Although they are inexpensive to purchase, their cost of operation makes them the costliest source of light.

Fluorescent or hid Comaparison

Until the early 1980's most indoor growers used fluorescent lights to illuminate their garden. These tubes have tremendous advantages over incandescents. They emit about 3 times as much light as an incandescent (given the same wattage), and the light spectrum is one that plants con use more effectively. However, they do certainly have their limitations. Light is emitted over a large area, so it is not concentrated. Because of this, the lights have to be hung very close to the plants (usually within 2" or so from the grow tips), and constantly moved to accommodate plant growth. This makes garden maintenance rather difficult, even when the lamps are hung on chains. Florescents are, however, very useful in cloning, and starting seedlings. Because in these stages, a plant is not growing vertically very quickly, the disadvantages of moving the lights are reduced. They also put out a more gentle light than the HID lamps, and release less heat. The fact that they produce less heat is very important to those growing in enclosed and not-especially-well ventilated spaces. If you choose to use fluorescents, it is best to purchase the 'cool white' variety. The ones that are sold as grow lamps (including grow-lux, vitalite, etc.) are much less efficient than a standard fluorescent, and just do not put out enough light to be useful. The slightly different spectrum produced by these lamps does nothing for most plants. Some growers have reported excellent results by using a mixture of cool-white and warm-white lamps in a florescent fixture.

Hid light output?

MH lamps are available in 175,200, 400 and 1000 watt sizes. HPS lamps come in 50, 75, 150, 400 and 1000 watt sizes. San Agro comes in 430w only, but it works with a 400w HPS ballast. Each lamp requires its own ballast, which comes with the fixtures that are designed to use these lamps, and are also available separately.
