After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Try this procedure:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

How to install QY6-0061-000 Printhead

You open the lid and wait for the carriage to come tothe center, remove all inks, lift the gray lever straight up and tilt the printhead forward from the top and lift straight out. The new one goes in bottom first and then you tilt back the top, lower the lever again and install the inks.

Printhead problems

It's likely that your printheads have just been knocked about a bit when you cleared the jam and all you need to do is to remove and then reseat them again properly...

Try this:
  • Open the main printer lid (not the scanner) :-)
  • wait for the printer LED to show the message about replacing printheads
  • Press and hold the OK button for 5+ seconds.
  • Wait for the printheads to move into the replacement position and wait 5 seconds more to be sure the printer isn't messing with you as sometimes it likes to move a bit more before it settles.
  • Lift the blue lid clear
  • Remove the printheads one at a time and check for any ink smear on the back part where a circuit board sits... This may need some gentle cleaning with a cotton bud
  • Check the contact circuit board in the actual printhead carriage (the bit where the printheads actually sit normally) and clean these with a cotton bud if these have become soiled
  • Replace the printheads in the correct slots and carefully push them into position
  • Close the blue lid and then close the printer lid
If the printheads are ok you should find that this will solve the problem and re-establish connection with the printer, cancelling the error. If not, it's possible the printhead is damaged but I'd give HP support a call first and request a replacement if you can (check the warranty on the printhead - they have this printed on them).

Hope this helps.

Where the heck is the ink cartridge

If you will notice where the paper comes out of the printer, that whole top portion including the keyboard area tilts up and back, it is hinged. Once it is up you will be able to see the ribbon cable attached to the print head and the print head has the ink cartridges on it. With the printer off the printhead should be on the far left. Put your fingers on the cartridges and slide the printhead to the middle so that it is right in front of you and you can get to it. The ink cartridges just lift up and back off the print head. Replace the new one close the lid and power it on and you will be up and running again. God bless.

Printer won't print in black

If you need to change the printheads on this printer you need to do the following:

- Open the main lid (not the scanner one)
- Check the LED Screen on the printer and you will see that it gives you the instructions to hold down the "OK" button on the printer panel for 5 seconds if you want to change the printhead... So do this... Hold the OK button.

The printer will now move the printheads into the exchange position.. Wait a few seconds for the printhead carriage to stop moving around as sometimes it can catch your fingers..then:

- Lift the blue flap (lift from the front - hinge at the back)
You should now see the printheads

- Carefully lift the little blue plastic handle for the printhead and pull this up and out to lift the printhead out that you want to change

Now for your new printhead:

- Before you install it, shake it back and forth 6 times as shown to shake up and mix the ink that's pre-filled in the cartridge.

- Pull the orange covers and plugs off/out as shown

- Carefully slot the printhead into the position vacated by the old one. You may find that you need to slot it in by angling it slightly but be patient...

Once the new printhead is in position (check the other printhead to check they're the same level ie: that the new printhead is all the way in).

- Close the blue flap back into the closed position

- Close the main lid

The printer will then begin a priming routine and after a few minutes you can start to use your printer again..

Printhead problem (black/yellow) on HP L7780

When you removed the paper it's possible your damaged it and that's why the message is not going away. Did you try to put the cartridge back in to make sure it had not come out of position and just remove the power cord for a minute then plugging it back it.

Here are the steps to make sure you properly change the cartridges and the heads...

Install the ink cartridges and printheads Step one: Install the ink cartridges All four ink cartridges must be correctly installed for the HP All-in-One to work. Follow the steps below to Install cartridges:
  1. Open the ink cartridge cover.
  2. Remove each ink cartridge from its package.
  3. Align each ink cartridge with its color-coded slot and then insert the ink cartridge into the slot. To ensure proper contact, press down firmly on the cartridges until they snap into place.
  4. Close the ink cartridge cover.

  1. Open the top cover of the printer. Figure 2: Open the top cover c00848391.gif
  2. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, press and hold the Resume button (c00847980.gif ) for three seconds. Wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  3. Remove the cardboard cover from the printhead carriage. Figure 3: Remove the cardboard cover c00848392.gif
  4. Lift the printhead latch. Figure 4: Lift the printhead latch c00848393.gif
  5. Before installing a printhead, shake the printhead up and down at least six times while the printhead is still in its packaging. Figure 5: Shake the printhead while it is still in its packaging c00847983.gif
  6. Remove the new printhead from its package, and then remove its orange protective caps. CAUTION: Do not shake printheads after the caps are removed. Figure 6: Remove the printhead from its packaging, then remove the orange caps from the printhead c00847984.gif
  7. Insert the printhead into its color-coded slot. The label on the printhead must match the label on the printhead latch. Press down firmly on the printhead to ensure proper contact. Figure 7: Insert the printheads in the correct color-coded slots c00847985.gif
  8. Pull the printhead latch all the way forward, and then press down to ensure that the latch is properly engaged. You might have to apply some pressure to engage the latch. Figure 8: Close the latch c00848394.gif
  9. Close the top cover. Figure 9: Close the top cover c00847987.gif
Step three: Align the print heads Whenever you insert or replace a printhead, the printer automatically aligns the printheads to ensure the best print quality. If the printer does not print the alignment page automatically, start the alignment process manually. To start the alignment process manually:
  1. Press the Setup button on the control panel Setup and the number 6 on the keypad or scroll to Tools .
  2. Press 4 on the keypad or scroll to Align Printer . The alignment process starts.
