Question about Washing Machines

Kenmore 70 series washer off balance!!

My washer goes through the cycles fine until it gets to the spin cycle. Once it is there it acts like it is off balance but I rearranged the clothes and that does not seem to be the problem. I tried to do another load and it is doing the same thing, just shaikng like crazy. What could be the problem? It is a newer washer and when it has water in it, it spins fine until the water is all out. Please help me!!!

If it drains and won't spin you have to replace the direct drive coupling.

That is not to say that the drum is not out of balance. Try running it empty and see if it happens.

Washer will not spin

There is a safety switch on the lid ... when it went out of balance perhaps the adjustment changed or it got damaged (loose wire etc.) BE SURE TO PULL THE PLUG BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIRS

Timer stops at the end of wash cycle, won't began drain cycle

if it fills and agitates but stops at the drain/spin portion, it sounds like you have a problem with the lid switch. if it thinks the lid is opne, it will not drain or spin.

Kenmore washer series 70 shakes wildly during spin during cycle

I have the same kenmore and have experience this before. It is unbalanced. Get a spirit level to check for balance. To rebalance, empty the washer (so it's not heavy), lean over the washer and grab the back, tilt it forward and the auto balancing legs should reposition themselves. Re-check for balance using the spirit level. If still out, adjust the front feet of the washer by screwing the legs up or down (using a wrench). This will cure the problem (unless you have a very unbalanced load of towels for instance). Good luck
