Question about Steinberg Cubase SX3
First of all, I'm a complete plum when it comes to anything technical so feel free to tell me if I'm not doing something obveous.
Also, it's Cubase SE, not SX3. They didn't have SE on the product list of the email field.
I've just (tried) to set up a home studio from Cubase SE and an Edirol UA-25 sound card. I'm sure everything has been installed as to the respective instructions, but I'm not getting any sound.
The sound card is lit up and Cubase has recognised it, but when I plug in a guitar I A) get no sound from the monitors or headphones despite the limiter flahing red and B) I'm not getting any response whatsoever from the mixer on Cubase.
One thing which I'm finding is different to how it looks in the instructions is the input pop up in the channel strip. In the Cubase manual it shows a drop down with a choice of "IN 1 L/IN 1 R", "IN 2 L/IN 2 R", etc, but on mine I only have "IN 1+IN 2". Is that anything to do with it?
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: usb mic in cubase sx3
you have a pci audio card so maybe you can add an extra input device by going to devices panel or press F4 shortcut.
and choose your usb mic.
also you can check your wavelab audio inputs. they must have the same config so if you can record woth your usb mic and your poci card in wave lave you must be able to do so in cubase sx
hope it works

In Cubase SX3, go into Devices > Device Setup.
Once in the menu, click on 'VST Audiobay' and make sure 'Release ASIO Driver in Background' is UNCHECKED.

From what I have read, if you contact your regional Steinberg distributer they can issue you a new code if yours is lost. Or you could contact Steinberg directly here and request a new cd and licence (providing you can prove that it is a genuine product that you purchased).
Did you use and lose your blue key? If you did you can retrieve the licence number from your computer.
