Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I am trying to connect my Samsung TV LE32A559P - 32'' Widescreen 1080P and PS3 using a LINX HDMI Cable - Premium 24K Gold Plated HDMI Lead. When I turn on the PS3 it say the HMDI lead has been found would I like to output Audio and Video using the HDMI. If I select yes the screen goes blank and I have to turn off the PS3. On the PS3 I went into Settings…Display setting…Video output and selected HDMI. I got the following message.
“Press button X. the screen will be displayed based on this setting. If the setting is not correct the screen will go blank temporarily. Then after 30 second the system will go back to the previous screen”
The screen then goes blank for 30 seconds and doesn’t change to the HDMI setting.
Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hey there I don't see why your playstation 3 should be doing that other than the console being defective. Sony doesn't have this problem that often and actually this is the first time i have heard of such problem. Try making sure the the HDMI cable is connected at both ends all the way in and also make sure your Samsung is a 1080P which i am pretty sure it is and finally if you have a friend or another 1080P HDTV in your house i would try and see if your ps3 will support the 1080P feature. If you still have the problem even when you use a different TV then its the ps3 that is malfunctioning otherwise it would be your Samsung. Let me know how that turns out alright.

Tips for a great answer:
HDMI is available in several versions. The PS3 is compatible with HDMI version 1.3 or higher, which will take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc™ high-definition video. There are also "Type A" and "Type B" connectors. The PS3 uses the 19-pin Type A connector, which will allow resolutions up to 1080p.
The HDMI cable is not included with the PS3.
If you are using an adaptor (i.e., HDMI to DVI converter), try bypassing this adaptor and connecting the HDMI cable directly into the display.
Try connecting with the supplied AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation. This will help determine where the problem may be with your particular HDMI setup and/or equipment.
Some older HDTVs may have issues with the copy protection protocols (HDCP) causing the handshake not being communicated between the TV and the PS3. Try resetting the TV by turning the TV and PS3 off, then unplug the TV power cord from the outlet and plug it back in. Then turn your TV and PS3 back on and see if the picture appears.
