Frozen at blue startup screen

My ipaq rx4240 is frozen at the blue start up screen. I can get it to the boot and usb messages or formatting PS, but I can not get it past that. I have completed a soft and hard reset and also used the computer troubleshooting without success. Any ideas? I have contacted HP and they want me to send it in with an expensive charge and no guarantee. Thanks

    Hi there, i did have the same problem. Outlook sync caused a hang, Hard reset was'n t able to resolve issue. Still seeing 'formatting PS' progress bar is 100%. That's it. Any fixes found in the past ? thanks a lot, regards,

A factory reset erases all user-installed settings, programs, and data, and restores your HP iPAQ to factory settings.
CAUTION All user-installed settings, programs, and data are erased from memory with a factory reset.
To perform a factory reset and return your HP iPAQ to factory settings:
  1. Press and hold the OK and Rotate Screen buttons.
  2. While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the HP iPAQ until the device restarts.
  3. When the HP iPAQ restarts, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.
The HP iPAQ will now restart and power on.

If you have done the above and still no go. Then your main drive has probably failed.

Ipaq 2490 hangs on booting

Try this:
4. Make clean reset (hold callendar + itask, then press and hold reset), after about two seconds you will hear knack. Now unhold these buttons. The screen will be black.
5. After that make hard reset (hold callendar + messaging + power and then press and hold reset) after about two seconds unhold reset button first and after about one seconds remaining buttons. You will see on screen PS FORMAT.
6. Now is you iPAQ ready.

Frozen screen

hello :-) i just talked to another person who was having the same problem as you. And guess what?? the same problem happened to me on my IPAQ 4350. It turned out when I would hard reset my IPAQ it asked me to align the screen but it wouldn't move and it would freeze and not let me pass . But I later found out that my screen was damaged and I got a new touch screen installed and my IPAQ works perfect :-). I would recommend for you to do the same and call HP and see if they could install it for you. Thanks :-}
