Question about Fuji Cameras

1 Answer

I have a finepix s6500fd and recently dropped it in a river. The camera has dryed out very well and works, but I have now got water marks on the inside of the lens. How can I get into the camera to clean it?

Unfortunately, the lens on the 6500fd is not a removable lens, and if the water is on the inside of the glass, you will want to send it in for a good cleaning.

The problem with electronics getting a bath is that although it works now, after drying, the water that was inside will promote corrosion of the internal workings of the camera over time. I would definitely send the camera to Fuji or to a qualified service center and have them give it a good cleaning to slow or prevent the decay of the insides of the camera.

I hope this helps.

Fujifilm s6500fd focus error; what a bummer.

In digital photography, the focus error is especially an error message on Fujifilm FinePix digital cameras, usually caused by dirt in the lens mechanism. To avoid any further damage, the camera electronics totally disables the autofocus system and refuses to take any still image. If out of warranty, the repair costs can easily exceed US $100

This is not a solution, however I have the very same problem, and as previously described, the problem have started recently after about two years. What make me think that there is an additional internal battery which died, similar to a PC battery that keeps the date and some other stuff

Dropped my e550 in the river

I'm afraid so. The insides of these types of cameras are very compact, with layers of circuitry and connections. You might have been able to save it (a slim chance at best ) if you had gotten it to a repair shop or removed the covers and dried it quickly.

I have rescued cel phones (my own), film SLR camera and lens from water damage, but they were still wet when I started. Your Fuji would be a pain to take apart since they used the tri-head screws on that model
