Question about Yahoo Messenger
I have Vista, downloaded yahoo messanger vista version. whenever I'm trying to install a pop up msg is coming " yahoo messanger is unable to download files needed for installaiton. please check firewell settings and retry installation"
"Yahoo messenger is unable to download files needed for installation. Please check firewall settings and retry installation"
I tried to solve this. I went through alot of forums. I uninstalled Yahoo messenger and tried installing new one. I downloaded and pressed "Run as an administrator" when i got this response
"Yahoo messenger is unable to download files needed for installation Please check firewall settings and retry installation."
I did the following:
Turned of Windows Firewall( Search )
Uninstalled Yahoo messenger
Downloaded New One
Used CCLEANER to clean the computer. Download CCLEANER from www.filehippo.com
Then I checked INTERNET EXPLORER:
Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN Settings -> Click on Automatically Detect Settings (Unclick everything else except this option) ->Apply -Ok
Check if www.yahoo.com opens in Internet Explorer.
Now Install Yahoo Messenger.
It should work.

Ok my friend i think now we can see there is a problem communicating between your computer (the installed program) and the yahoo server
so lets try these steps
first you can try this simple step and install yahoo again see if it going to work
go to start and in the search bar (lower left side of the list) type CMD (dont hit enter or anything just type it)
you will see on the left top side there is CMD and the icon is black
right click on it and select run as administrator and click continue when windows is asking to cancel or continue
now type in the black window
netsh firewall reset
now close the window and try to install
if not working then you will have to disable the firewall, windows defender and all the security programs
that should solve the issue.
if you have any further question feel free to ask
dont forget to rate my answer :)

1) there is no need to adjust firewall settings to download Messenger
2) There is no longer a dedicated version for Vista
3)You need the following OS to support Messenger
Windows 2000 / XP / 2003 / Vista / XP64 / Vista64
If that is not an issue read on.
The problem may be due to a mal-function of the uninstall software.
Close all programs when uninstalling / downloading and uploading.
If you tried to uninstall the old Yahoo Messenger program from the Control Panel and failed to back it up with a visit to the 'C' drive, you may have old software conflicting with the incoming software trying to share the same folder.
If you have Vista the whole Messenger folder should have been removed during the uninstall.
Start > Computer >> Local drive (C) >> Program Files >> Yahoo >> Messenger. - The Messenger folder should have been deleted and not seen. If the Messenger folder is still visible - delete it.
If you have a pre-Vista OS, the Messenger folder remains, and inside, only one sub-folder should be seen. This is the 'Profile' folder and contains all the message history. All other software should have been deleted.
Manually delete any other folders and files before moving on
Download 'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times.
Re-start your computer and download Yahoo Messenger from here.

If u all have checked the proxy settings of ur browser(internet exploreras yahoo treats it as default 1 to pick up settings) then do check the proxy settings of ur connection. To do this go to internet options and under the connections tab u can c the dialup connections that areinstalled. Alogside u will c a settings tab. Click it and in dis uncheck all boxes and just give your dialup settings. the problem will surely be solved
