M1004 error indicates a high temperature issue, perhaps the fan is not functioning or perhaps you just need to clear the error message in the BIOS (maintenance log). For the full screen problem, adjust your Display Settings Resolution until you get full screen.

Is the error coming during Bootup or after the PC start. Adjust the display by the Buttons on the notebook.
Let me know so I can further help you.

I keep getting an error message and it stops, Error message C1 and there is nothing with the bobbitn

Try hitting the F8 key after the Laptop starts booting, and when the list of options comes up, select boot in safe mode. If you are unable to get to the options screen, then search on the C1 error code on Google, and look at the tips on resolving the problem.
You will need to make note of the full error code, ie C1xxxxxxx.

My laptop boots up and after a short while shuts down. When rebooting I get an error message M1004 something to do with overheating. How do I resolve the problem?

You can try blowing out the CPU fan intake and exhaust with compressed Air and flashing the BIOS to the most current version.
If no change, next is try a new heatsink and fan (About $50)
If still no change, replace the motherboard

OUCH... Might need a new harddrive or motherboard. Does it even let you go into the bios? Maybe you can do a full reinstall to save you the dough.

Will not display full screen. Windows 2000 professional OS. Problem happened suddenly.

Check if you are able to change the Display Setting, from the Control Panel. And select the Resoultion 800 X 600,

Then try 1600 X 900 and so On.

If it works then good, otherwise let me know the error message comingup.
