Question about Televison & Video
I can't make it work! I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV that is less than 18mths old & today I bought an LG HDD DVD player/recorder & an LG AV Receiver. The salesman also sold me 2 HDMI cables & a composite cable saying that would give the best quality connection And of course, in the shop, it all sounded so simple - 'Just plug this in here & that in there & Bob's your uncle!'. It's straight forward to get the DVD player to work through the TV (with sound etc) but I can't make the receiver work. With a lot of experimentation I can get sound & no picture or picture & no sound. I have the HDMI cables from the TV to the reciever in the 'out' spot & the DVD player is connected to the receiver in the 'in' spot as per the instructions. I've no idea what to do with the composite cable. I'm guessing it all comes down to programming the receiver but the manual makes no sense and I've no idea about coaxials, digital inputs or even HDMI for that matter! Can anyone help? I just want to watch movies with great sound!

DO you have manuals for all the units listed?
If not , try the Samsung consumer site.
It would take me quite a while to figure out your situation even with manuals and I have a business to run besides.
Also, ask some questions of Tech Support at Samsung..Let them KNOW how much you spent on their stuff.

You have connected from PC to TV right???
1.To get the video you have to connect to TV
2.Please take a separate cables for to listen audio and to watch video,
for audio connect cables from DVD Player to Home Theater you can listen the audio
for video please connect the HDMI video to TV Where You can enjoy both.

switch the HDMI cables around to make sure its not one of them, if the problem is one of them it will move with the cable,if no change i would suspect the coaxial cable next.

SOURCE: HDMI connection not working
I have a DCT6416 which is essentially the same unit but with a bigger hardrive. I just had the same problem and was able to fix it.
First connect your DVR to your TV with the composite RGB cables and disconnect the HDMI. Then power your unit on. Then power it off (using the power on the DVR not a remote) and immediatly press the menu button on the DVR (not the remote). A white screen with black writing will come up. Using the down arrow buttons on your DVR go to the bottom line where it says "reset factory default" Toggle down to that and then use the right arrow key and your settings will be reset. Then exit out of that by powering off. Now remove your composite cables and replace the HDMI. You should be back up and running.
