E10 Iriver 3 won't regonize my device

Hello there
Everytime i connect my E10 it isnt recognized inside the iriver 3 program and wont allow me to transfer any music either. After a few minutes it comes with with a message saying 'Device timed out...retry/cancel /continue" but nothing happens when i press any option. I havent been able to load any new music or media on for ages. I have tired new transfer cords and tried it on a different pic but it is still the same. Any ideas? Thank you

    I have the same problem... Connecting the device takes a very, very
    long time, and i then get an error messeage that says it timed out,
    retry/cancel/continue. Either option does nothing.. Any software that
    tries to access the player (windows media player, iriver plus 3,
    windows explorer etc.) locks up for a while, then the same error
    message. I can't initialize it in iriver plus 3, if i try to format it
    in windows the format works for some 5 minutes, then tells me it wasn't able to complete the format, the files on the device are unchanged... Other usb devices i have work fine. I have no idea what might be causing it...

    Thanks for trying hoopo. I have tried diff computers even with iriver software but no luck. To the other GUEST who has the same problem someone said to me that if a virus gets on your computer it can effect the iriver unit in this way, but as of yet i have found no resolution to rid the iriver player of any virus' (or even scan for them!). So no joy :(

    I have the same problem :( My E10 worked fine untill the other day where the transfer ended up not responding, therefore I was forced to end the program (Plus 3). Everytime I now connect the E10, it does not regonize the device, although on the E10's screen it says "USB Connected". Since I ended the transfer the time before, I lost all the files that was on it, and now I have nothing and im really stuck. I need it soon as im going on a trip... Please HELP! Thanks..

    We have three E10s and have now this problem on 2 of them. While transferring tracks, which for some reason is very slow anyway, the transfer comes up as cancelled. After that all the music tracks previously on the player disappear and the folder shows "empty". One of the players has photos and videos and they are still there! Tried reformatting one E10 and that now is even more screwed as it shows no capacity even though seems to have no content.Also when viewed in windows explorer it sometimes shows up as having no free space and other times as being fully free.This seems a bit of a coincidence that two have been affected in a couple of weeks, and I am wondering about software, either iRiver plus 3 or the only other change is the installation of Norton Internet Security 2009!

    I have the same problems as all of you and I have tried all the solutions listed below. I have not yet been able to sovle the problem. I have though once and awhile hit the reset button on the device and the e10 will connect but can not put any files onto the e10 says something like folder does not exist on the transfer page. After seeing all the problems it seems the best solution is to go get something else. But Thank you for your post it has saved me time on trying others things that will not work.

Further to previous post.Deleted Plus 3 from computer completely,including databases, and reinstalled. Program recognised E10 which seemed okay.Transfers of files to E10 worked OK at previous speed and E10 now seems normal again(fingers crossed), with capacity now showing correctly.Seems the old standard advice of uninstall and reinstall worked. I don't understand the interrelationship with the attached player and the program on the host computer?

You could try and use a different computer. Maybe at a friends house or at a libary.

How to fix iriver E10 it says on the screen is emergency usb


  1. If your PC does recognize the iRiver as a USB device/drive, there is an issue with the Hard Drive.
  2. If your computer doesn't recognize the iRiver as a USB device/drive and can read the files, there is an issue with the Circuitry in your e10.
  3. Turn the lock off and connect it to the usb port and press the reset button (small hole in lower left of unit, use a small object like a paperclip. The screen should change eventually to the "USB connected" screen. Disconnect the USB at the PC to get the "Ok to disconnect" message. Pull out the usb cable and hold down the "off" button. Eventually the unit will turn off. Turn it on and then off to verify it is working.
If nothing works, your iRiver needs to be returned to the manufacturer.

Can't download video onto my e10 iriver


READ ALL FIRST

1.Download and install iriverter (http://iriverter.sourceforge.net).
2.Open the Profiles folder (C:\Program Files\iriverter\profiles).
3.Make a COPY of the u10.profile file, and name it e10.profile.
4.Open the newly created e10.profile within I USED NOTEPAD.
5.Change the device from “u10′ to “e10′.
7.Save the file, and close it.
6.Change the dimensions from “320×240′ to “128×128′.
8.Launch iriverter, and select the E10 under Options > Device > iriver.
9.Click the Single Video button.
10.Specify the video file to be converted for the input field, and specify the output file where you want to save it.

Iriver E10 Reseting Options


can i suggest you try rockox http://build.rockbox.org/ this will give you more than the regular ole iriver software.
but if you really want to start fresh back up the e10 iriver software, format you e10, re-install iriver software, add your media back (i've done this with my kids ipods also..and it works like new)

Iriver plus software closes down when I plug in my iriver E10 to the computer


Using Explorer try copying one song over into the music folder of the device. Then restart Plus so that it searches and finds a song present.

IRiver E10 - Error screen - Emergency USB


Hi There,

There are 2 conditions related to the e10 Emergency USB message.

1. If your PC does NOT recognise the iriver as a USB device/drive, there is an issue with the Hard Drive.
2. If your PC DOES recognise the iriver as a USB device/drive and can read the files, there is an issue with the Circuitry in your e10.

In either case, your iriver needs to be returned to the manufacturer. If in warranty you can get this repaired at no cost (of course).
