Cell Phone is locked

I was going through the settings on my Samsung SCH-A950 cell phone. I selected NAM 2. The phone turned off turned back on, and now it says "initial programmig needed" and there is a lock code that i can't get past. When ever I press some numbers and hit send it says, "USE RESTRICTED_ EMERGENCY CALL ONLY" Same problem but phone is the U540. HELP!

MY PHONE IS AN SCH-U540 NOT A a950. But the rest is the same. It was on NAM1, I accidentally changed it to NAM2, the phone immediately restarted and it says INITIAL PROGRAMMING NEEDED and wants a 4 digit unlock code. My code does not work, nor does the last four of the phone # etc.

THIS IS A WORK PHONE AND IF I DON'T FIX IT I WILL BE IN TROUBLE.

    PLEASE HELP!

P.S. There is no SIM card in this phone and the network is Verizon

Well Fixya friends, I learned a couple of things today. Do not push a button if you are not sure what it will do AND go straight to the source when I have an electronics problem.

Thank you for trying to help. I need my $10 back now. :)

You can only dial 911 if you have this error message "USE RESTRICTED_ EMERGENCY CALL ONLY". The phone needs to be reset back to factory defaults if the last four digit of your phone # isn't working nor your own code. Try to turn off your phone and the base, unplug the power for about 10-15 mins. Then turn it back on, use the last four digit of your phone again to unlock it. If it still doesn't work, you really need to call the phone provider/manufacturer to unlock it.

Hi,
I got the same problem,
Here is what i did for that.........

I actually used BitPim and was able to get into the file system on myphone even though it was locked.
I looked under user prefs and found aline for "lockcode_nam.5537."
I tried the 5537 and voila, the phoneunlocked.
I have no idea where the 5537 code came from, its nothingI've ever programed and not associated with my phone number, ESN, oranything else I can think of. Anyhow, I wish the guys at Samsung andVerizon wouldn't be so quick to want to re-program phone all the timewhen things go wrong.
Surely they have some diagnostics personnell thatknow about this work around. Or maybe they just don't want to concedeto, or give credit to, or condone software like BitPim. That's probablythe real story.

To download the software,
www.bitpim.org/#download

Hope my info solves your problem,
Thanx for using fixya......

You had given the wrong model code, please give the right one. There is no phone model in US.
Please try this:
Go to Menu > Settings > Security > Select 'Phone lock'. Then it will ask for password. The default password of h/s is "00000000" (Eight zeros).

Try first enterying a code of all zeros 0000, also try 1234, they are the default codes.

If thet does not work call the phone service provider to unlock the phone.

If you switch over to the NAM2 configuration the phone will reboot and assign an unlock code, that is composed by the last four digit of the random NAM code.

When this happen you need to call the service provider that originally sold the phone (eg: At&T, Vodafone, Orange, Telecom, Verizon etc.).

If you cannot do it online take the phone to a local shop for your mobile telephone company , and have it unlocked in there.

As I said, you need to contact Verizon, it is the only way to unlock it.

Find contact here Verizon | Contact Us

Call them, they will ask phone number and other details, and provide you an emergency unlock code.

The model number does not make any difference, when you switch to NAM2 and you do not take note of NAM code, you get same problem on all Samsung phones.

Call the provider :Verizon | Contact Us

If they cannot fix it by phone, go to a Verizon shop and have it done in there for $10. They also have access to Verizon code database.

I clicked the namp2 thing and now i cant get it unlocked

If your phone is set to lock, and you have changed the Nam, you will have to take your phone to your provider so that they can read the lock code for Nam 2 and change it back to Nam 1. You may want to call them first, they might have a standard code that they use.

enter ##626# and hit send button. it will bring u to option to select nam1 or nam2, select nam1.. go to next screen, enter in the sdc code which is 000000, (6 zeros), enter or next screen, make sure that mid is same as ur cell number, go to next screen, it will show ur number again, next screen, will be sid and nid numbers... they are what they should be, go next screen, then i think there is option to be done, view, edit choose done, next screen then it will program by itself. powering on then off, bringing u back to same screen with the same window of initial programming needed, just go to enter code, and enter the last 4 of your cell number, and it will let u through,.. just remember to go back in to your phone options menu and change the nam setting in there back to nam1 also. then it will power off and on again. program should be complete... you can always also dial *228 and option 2 to reprogram your phone again to

I have a sch U740 samsung phone nam 1 code

The lock code should be the last 4 digits of your phone number or 0000.

If that doesn't work, perform an activation by dialing *228 send. Then select option 1. After this is complete your phone's lock code should be reset to the last 4 digits of your phone number.

You accidentally switched to NAM 2. Simply go to the menu; tools and settings' phone settings; NAM selection; NAM. This should help.

Cell Phone is locked

I did the same thing last night. was playing around and switched to nam 2. it took me 3 hours to get the right code but i did get it. my code was 5188. what I did was with excel print out every number from 0000 to 9999. I started with 5550 and worked up to 6000. when that did not work I then went from 5549 backwards and got it. the reason I started with the 5000 is because two other forums I looked in to the people who unlocked them where in the 5000s it could have just been a coincidences but it worked for me.
