Re: can not hear thru phone can only use it on hands free...
Check your phone settings and see if you have voice routed to headset or phone. I had mine routed to phone only and the bluetooth though on would not come on when I was answering phone calls. Now when my bluetooth is on, it automatically goes to headset instead of the phone.

My dear friend, the problem is simply that the earphone of the bad/ damaged that is why you cannot hear anything on the phone. As long as your caller can hear you but you cannot hear them, then it is confirmed, because, the speaker is on a different side of where the earphone of the phone is.
The solution is just for you to have the earphone of the phone replaced.
But before replacing the earphone of the phone, you can use a bluetooth hands-free temporarily or an external earpiece that you can connect to the phone and be using on the phone temporarily before replacing the earphone of the phone.
Using a bluetooth hands-free or external earpiece is quite cheap and is of easy access.
You have a speaker problem. Confirm this using a hands free device. If you can hear the conversation, the speaker problem is therefore confirmed. You would have to get the phone's speaker fixed, and this might not be something you could do yourself. So taking it to a neighbouring repairer could be the option. But in the mean time, pending when you fix the speaker, conveniently make and receive your calls using the hands free device.
Mind you, if testing with the hands free device did not solve the problem, it then evidently is a network problem, at which your mobile service operators are to be informed for further assistance.
There must be something wrong with the headset device. Have you tried it with a new headset device? Or if it doesnt work also, try to check the hardware of your phone- meaning you have to check the inside part of the phone particularly the headset connector.
If you cant do it, try to take it at a certified service centre. If it has a warranty, much better.
