I suggest kaspersky internet security for you, it can deal with both viruses and spywares. because i think you have a spyware in your computer not a virus.

Outside factors that affect connection speeds
Unfortunately, there are events and conditions that are outside your control. Even with a fast connection, external factors, such as busy websites or spreading computer viruses, can slow the entire web. Popular websites can become overwhelmed with users. For example, when a television commercial mentions a website, many people might try to visit the site at the same time. If the website isn't prepared to handle the traffic, you might encounter delays.

During times of heavy computer virus outbreaks, the Internet can slow down. Many viruses spread by causing computers to send out hundreds or thousands of copies of the virus. This can slow the Internet by sheer volume. You can see what major outbreaks are currently happening by visiting your antivirus vendor's website, or the Security at Home website.

Local Internet congestion can also result in slower-than-normal connection speeds. These slowdowns occur when many people try to connect to the Internet at the same time, and they occur most often at peak activity times, such as after school hours when students get home and connect to the web.

If you're on a corporate network, general network and proxy server use can affect your Internet performance. Most network administrators monitor Internet use, and will try to keep people from doing things like downloading large files during peak hours. If you find that your Internet access is slow at times, you might discuss it with your network administrator.
Virus Guide: 11 things you should know

What is a computer virus --> Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation.
A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk.
Computer viruses are often spread by attachments in e-mail messages or instant messaging messages. That is why it is essential that you never open e-mail attachments unless you know who it's from and you are expecting it.
Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files.
Computer viruses also spread through downloads on the Internet. They can be hidden in illicit software or other files or programs you might download.
To help avoid computer viruses, it's essential that you keep your computer current with the latest updates and antivirus tools, stay informed about recent threats, run your computer as a standard user (not as administrator), and that you follow a few basic rules when you surf the Internet, download files, and open attachments.
Once a virus is on your computer, its type or the method it used to get there is not as important as removing it and preventing further infection.

Its a virus.
You need to run these 3 essential programs to remove all the spyware on your computer.

If you do not have an internet security suit and only an anti virus
1. Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
2. Run a complete scan with free curing utility Dr.Web CureIt!
3. Run the anti spyware removal programs spybot or Superantispyware
Use Mozilla firefox or the google chrome browser for browsing unsafe websites

Install ThreatFire.ThreatFire, features innovative real-time behavioral protection technology that provides powerful standalone protection or the perfect complement to traditional signature-based antivirus programs offers unsurpassed protection against both known and unknown zero-day viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, buffer overflows, spyware, adware and other malware.
Run an online virus scan like Trend Micro HouseCall,F-Secure Online Virus Scanner etc etc
update your software by running
Secunia Online Software Inspector
Install a good antivirus in your computer.
Keep your antivirus updated. If automatic updates are available, configure your antivirus to use them.
Keep your permanent antivirus protection enabled at all times.

Stopped connecting to internet through land line

hi there, i had kind a same problem with u, the only difference is mine shows "connected" but i can't surf the internet when others in my network are doing just fine. 1st i tried to uninstall my LAN card driver and the reinstall it back. It worked, i can surf the internet but only for a few minutes. So i installed a firewall, in my case, i installed windows defender. After reinstalling my LAN card driver, i realized an unknown program tried to change some of my LAN driver files, so i denied the program access using windows defender. The problem solved !! Maybe it's a virus or spyware, i don't know because before installing windows defender, my avg and antispyware don't detect any virus/spyware. Hope this help, gud luck
