Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions
I have a Sony Trinitron - KVG21Q1.
When i switch on the TV. Audio comes on then the tv turns off within a few seconds automatically. Some times there is a thin horizontal silver line in the middle of the screen. (There is no problem with the Tube, It works fine). Also none of the red lights in front panel blinks.
You have a vertical deflection problem. This is either caused by the vertical yoke transformer going bad or the vertical coupling capacitor going bad. It may even be one of the components in the biasing circuit that delivers the vertical deflection signal. In any event this may be causing excessive current which then causes the shutdown circuit to activate. I would have a qualified TV technician check the vertical defelection section of the TV.
I hope This helps,
